“Real men don't use straws!" I guess that stuck with me! However, my spouse, with any cold or hot drink, she would ALWAYS use a plastic or paper straw; whether it’s at home or away from home. As a family, we are very conscious of the necessity of recycling to do our small part in helping to save our environment. Therein, our family’s search for a reusable alternative to plastic and paper straws.Early August 2019, I searched Amazon for my wife and purchased a collapsible stainless steel straw. She liked that the straw was a complete package and after a week of testing, she liked the straw and recommended the collapsible stainless steel straw in an Amazon Review.End August 2019, she wanted to try an angled straw, thinking it would be easier for sipping purposes. I searched Amazon and purchased a package of angled and straight stainless steel non-collapsible straws for my spouse. She also liked these straws and recommended the non-collapsible stainless steel straws in a second Amazon Review.Before my current purchase of the angled Moyad Collapsible Silicone Straw, my spouse had to use TWO stainless steel straws>the collapsible stainless steel straw for an out of home drink and the non-collapsible angled stainless steel straw for an in-home drink.Two weeks ago, my wife saw a website advertisement offering silicone straws. I thought that was a genius idea as silicone should not transmit scorching heat or freezing cold as stainless steel would! I decided to search Amazon for this new generation of reusable silicone straws! I found two types (Image1, from left to right) of collapsible silicone straws, first, angled and, second straight. Both included a small brush and stored in a small container (Image2). I also compared the silicone with the metal straws (Image1).My spouse tested both types of silicone straws and both were clearly superior to the stainless steel straw; primarily because as we suspected, extreme heat and icy cold did not transfer significantly to the tip of the silicone straw!When she compared the two types of collapsible silicone straws, the clear winner was the angled Moyad Collapsible Silicone Straw (Image3). The diameter of the Moyad Silicone Straw was larger; therefore, more suitable for thick smoothies. Moyad’s angled straw is superior for sipping and the small heart attached to the straw keeps the straw in the desired position. Also, the Moyad brush (Image4) is a flexible straight spring with a silicone tip which is an improvement over the inflexible nylon brush.RECOMMENDATION:The angled Moyad Silicone Straw is no doubt the best reusable straw tested. She likes the straw so much she plans to buy a half dozen more to use as Christmas Stocking Stuffers. Based on the above results of my wife’s testing, she strongly recommends you gals also consider purchasing the angled Moyad Collapsible Silicone Straws, so you too can do your part in helping to save our environment!
