Waterlox is the best
I use the Marine formula for tool handles on things I've rebuilt. It penetrates completely and dries up very well. No sticky residue left over. even with a couple coats. Waterlox on floors is similar but it does smell going on. I did hickory floors and pre-coated and I'm glad it was in the garage. great product.

Great product!!
We recently built a "cabin in the woods" as a place to go and relax alone. We finished the inside with white pine tongue and groove siding. We wanted a product that was easy to apply, did not leave brush marks, and was very durable. This company's range of products is perfect! The wood sealer worked perfectly to fill in the very open pore structure of the pine with two coats. A very light sanding with 400 grit sand paper and two coats of the gloss finish and it looked better than the paint job on most new cars. No brush marks, no discolored streaks, no flaws like you get from other finishes. The company has a video on how to use their products. Watch it, and follow what they say, and you will be amazed at the result. The down side? It has a very strong smell while it is curing. Be in a very well ventilated area when you are using this. I applied it in a detached garage and left the door open. It takes about two days for the product to cure out and not smell, depending on weather and temperature. Nut the results are well worth it!

Waterlox Customer Service makes their products even better
I'm a complete amateur at woodworking. I used Waterlox several years ago to make a wooden countertop island. I wanted the countertop to be resistant to water. The countertop turned out great because I contacted Waterlox and they were great about talking me through exactly what products to use for my specific project and the best instructions. Waterlox products were easy to work with and left a finished look that still gets compliments. Now I'm working on a new outdoor live edge table and Waterlox customer service came through again. The added confidence of getting instructions that are specific to my project is so worthwhile. I'm half way through my project and the application has been great. The only unknown left is waiting the years to determine if the long term durability of the Marine Sealer is anything like the durability of my last project.Waterlox products are great!

Can't go wrong with this product
Easy to apply, dries relatively fast, good coverage, gives a richer/warmer color to the wood. My only caution is that, once opened, you need to ensure it's capped well and used up before it 'gunks up'. Excellent base for other products of the same manufacturer.Keep in mind that this is varnish and it will take some time to dry so you can apply the next coat. I've always had good results by wiping it on in very thin coats and sanding in between coats, but it's not a quick process. Also, this is a sealer only and should be used as a base for a top coat.I don't know why Amazon asks me to evaluate the 'scent'. While applying this product you should wear a respirator, so the 'scent' is really not something I want to smell.

Great product, cant wait to use it for more!
I am in love!!! Im making a storefront sign for outside so I needed something to stand up to the weather. Thompsons and other products "allow for natural greying" which I did NOT want. This stuff goes on super easy and soaks in over 24 hrs. No mixing or shaking is required with this which is nice. The sealer itself is a dark amber color. I am sealing over a dark walnut stain and white paint. I dont notice the color on the wood because of the stain, but it did add a brown hue to the paint as it sits on it and dries. I did a test piece prior so I was prepared and anticipated that, but it leads me to believe it would darken wood. Its pretty strong smelling, but goes on easy. Just brush on and youre done.

Takes Time but worth it.
Used on refurbrished pine screen doors. Last product did not stand up to weather and doors became heavily water stained. However this is a marine finish and after two thick coats with sanding in between seems to be holding up well. After this winter I will recoat 2x more times. I expect this will do the trick. Suggest using in an open, well ventilated space when applying. I did mine in an open garage with ventillation fan going and then removed to outdoors for curing. Wait until completely dry before additional coating attempted. Be sure to remove sheen between coats. (0000 steel worked just fine but I was very careful to remove all residue left from pads.)
