Newport Pontoon-Series 55lb Thrust Saltwater Electric Pontoon Trolling Motor with Deck Mount Bracket & 55" Shaft

Newport 55 lb trolling motor. Using on a 20ft. pontoon. Update 07/22/25. Glad I haven't experienced some of the problems other customers have experienced. I also did some upgrades, like an Autoboat smart head. Plus I swapped out the stationary mount for trolling motor quick release bracket, Heurytep trolling motor mount and an endura transom mount. These upgrades make it removable and also easy to stow when moving spot to spot. The Autoboat smart head was an easy mod that gives me spot lock and other functions to make a day on the water more enjoyable. This is not a promo for Autoboat, because the lead time was infuriating at almost 4 months.

I enjoyed using it for a week of fishing and it was flawless in operation. No regrets of buying it as the price was great for what you get.

I have to say I was not sure if this motor would work for my needs. I have an old pontoon boat used for a swim dock on a lake. We need to get it out to the middle and anchor it. We do get some strong winds and it can blow the boat across the lake easily. This motor worked perfectly and faster than I expected. I installed it on the back and reversed the handle direction. This did not seem to create an issue with the internal wiring and it maneuvers great. In fact we can scoot around the lake pretty easily.

There should be a no star rating. Piece of junk!!!! Would not run from the start!!!! returning for a refund!!!! Refund took to long. I 'll be letting a marine shop do the installation next time!!!!!!!!!
