Great book! Anyone in class or new to the field should get it.
Love this book. I’m in HVAC School and this is really clear and is helping me so much with everything we are doing in class tremendously. Pics and descriptions are clear. There’s a bit of a catch 22 I’m learning as people in the field don’t actually do these “best practices,” and if you’re boss has been doing it 30 years and does stuff wrong, you can’t tell them they are wrong. My friends in the field seem to think class and books like this are pointless, which has me scratching my head.On a different note, there is nothing electrical here. I think it would be amazing if he came out with an HVAC electrical diagnostic equivalent because all the electrical books out there are just as bad as all the HVAC tech books that are 5000 pages and written in technical jargon. I have one electrical PDF book that got great reviews, but it’s 1000 pages and is getting way too much into the physics of it all... come on. I just got my electrical certification and I want to know how to repair an AC system, not master PHD electronics. The straight approach is great in this book. I think he could do something similar in electrical. I’d be the first to buy it.And great utube videos as well, which is of course presumably how his audience knows about this book. The videos are a good overview, the book solidifying the details. You can do the same with the electrical side Craig! :D Damn finding low voltage shorts and jumpers etc still confuse me.

Excellent for beginners
This is a great book. I am new to HVAC but as I am reading and learning I feel as if I have been doing HVAC a lot longer. The teachings is simple and not a lot of technical jargon. Simple to the point. I have not even gotten through halfway of the book but have learned so much. What is even better is that there is a YouTube that they have that helps make the learning more effective. I just received a email from them telling me that they have a second edition on the new refrigerants which I will be purchasing as soon as I complete the first one.

WOW! Just arrived but liking it!
So first off, granted the book is a bit pricey. But lets face it, authors (especially technical ones!) need to make money and its not any real cost difference from all the college textbooks I have purchased! All that being said, it just arrived today but after an hour or so reading through it, I am impressed. I LOVE the large print (us older guys have trouble reading that small 10pt font used in many manuals) and I really like the graphics. Also the spiral binding is nice as it will keep the book open during use. And the gloss paper is nice as well. All things important for a book intended for field use.Next, I like the graphics and the scenario examples. The material starts with some basics (purging hoses, etc) but then goes to some advance material (taking measurements, refrigerants, etc). Seems to cover all the bases.Just enough scientific information is included to be relevant yet its not a physics book of gas properties with a ton of equations and theory many if us (myself included!) have trouble understanding. Not that those are unimportant its just to me, they are not as important in a field tech manual so why include them?So in a nutshell, looks like a great resource for HVAC techs as well as those involved in the industry. I am definitely happy with my copy!

Great HVACR book for those in the trade.
This is a very well written instructional manual, but beware that it is written for those who have some training and/or experience with air conditioning or refrigeration equipment (you have to know closed refrigeration system operation and HVACR jargon). I've had 25 years of experience in this field and I still learned a thing or two. Craig Migliachio is a wonderful teacher and a master of the trade and it show through in this book. I don't recommend this for DIYers.

A must Read for New Hvac Technicians! Very Informative.
I am a recent Hvac school graduate and I bought this book to further my education plus the cards to keep in my tool bag and man this book has come in handy to use as a reference and guide. I'm new to the industry and I've found myself using this book often on jobs I've done. Establishing good habits is key and this book will teach you good habits. The book is very informative and the illustrations come in handy. Craig breaks things down in detail and it makes it easy for some like me to understand. Over all I highly recommend this book to New techs or students. Enjoy. Thanks
