Sound purchase
Extracts the audio from the incoming hdmi signal. Works perfectly and still keeps the audio working on the outgoing hdmi signal.

PS3 problem solved
Worked perfectly for a specific problem I had, I’ll say what it was. I had a ps3 and had it hooked up to a monitor with no audio output or speakers (the ps3 doesn’t have one.) and this was the only way for me to get to listen to the game audio (instead of buying a pair of headphones that Sony no longer makes.) so if anybody else is in this super particular predicament then yeah I recommend you get one of these. Video quality remains mostly the same, however it requires you to sacrifice a usb port on the console just for it to power on, but I’m unsure about any changes to fps.

Good value
Purchased second hand to try. Extracts audio from hdmi and allows for a coaxial digital connection to a dac. Works ok.

Broke after six months
Product worked fine but broke after about six months and had to replace it UPDATE Replaced with another one which was defective straight out of the box. Pointless.

Great, but not for sky puck.
Worked great for most channels on our 2026 sky stream puck. But some non-live sky HD channels wouldn't play. A different device works for this.

Great sound for the money. Not tested for picture.
I got this extractor to use with Chromecast in order to play Internet radio on old hifi without Internet capabilities. I did not use it for video, hence no rating for picture quality. At the price, the sound is great. On 350 quid Denon all in one system it sounds obviously worse than CD but not by as much as price difference would suggest. It is much smaller than you would guess from website picture. It has got both optical and coax digital out. Via my Chord DAC on my main hifi system it sounds even better but clearly my friend streamer is superior. But at 30 times the price it hardly surprising. So as a cheap way of adding Internet radio to old hifi it works brilliantly. I still do not understand why Amazon or other big brands can not produce 50 quid box which would combine functionality of Wi-Fi receiver and audio extractor.

PS5 lost it's optical out. This gizmo puts it back.
Since our setup depends on optical, it was a blow to realise that Sony had dropped the optical out from the new PS5. However, less than 24 hours later, Amazon delivered this little box, and it fixed the issue in minutes. The only downside I can see is you'll need 2 hdmi cables rather than 1. I chose the box simply because it was small. It's sturdy, it needs a 5v supply. provided in my case by using supplied power lead plugged into the PS5 spare usb port. Quality seems excellent. I have not tested or used the audio output. I would not have high expectations though, I mean, it would require a DAC and an amp to be of reasonable quality, which at this price would not be possible even if that was it's only function. So, sound quality good. build quality good. All that remains is to test reliability. So far I recommend highly.

Does exactly what it's supposed to. In my case it was used as a audio splitter for my Grandma's TV so we could attach a separate headphones while still allowing the TV to control it's own volume. It was placed between a set-top box and the TV.

I have been looking for an audio extractor for the Apple TV 4K, for reason that my (old but good) AVR only has HDMI pass through. It does not decode audio. And unlike the previous Apple TV, the latest does not have optical/audio out. There are so many of these audio extractors available, and none have consistently good reviews. I purchased a different one on Amazon which I returned because the video picture was distorted and all snow. In a second attempt I purchased this Amazon Basics extractor. Works great! Picture is no different than without the extractor. And now I have optical out for my AVR. That sound is great as well. Pretty much plug and play device. The only adjustment I made was to the Apple TV audio setting. It did not recognize that Dolby 5.1 was switched on the extractor. However it did allow me to select it. Doing so, surround sound kicked in and the Dolby indicator lit up on my AVR. Sounds great! Even sounds better than the old Apple TV with optical out.

Funktioniert einwandfrei 👍🏼 Wurde genutzt, um den FireTV-Stick über einen HP-Monitor und eine Teufel-Soundbar laufen zu lassen.
