Excellent pen, excellent price, excellent seller. Would recommend and buy from again.
This arrived super fast and on time (Amazon prime plus expedited shipping) via DHL and required a signature. The Amazon box had a dented corner but theinner box and all contents were unaffected. The pen itself was partially dislodged from its strap, but was unblemished. The pen works as intended. It feels hefty but not heavy. The balance feels nice, but I have yet to use it for more than a few notes. The EF nib is excellent. I have only inked it with the supplied Lamy cartridges so far and it writes wet (feels more F than EF, it's also a German nib vs a Japanese one that I'm used to). I have spare Lamy nibs I can try later for comparison.

Don't buy it, save money
I'm afraid, it's not a quality of a premium fountain pen with such a price. Sorry, Lamy Store, you have many good items, but not a this one.

Beautiful pen, but it has its flaws.
The craftsmanship and construction are what can be described as a work of art of form and function. However, the intricacies of the pen itself introduce multiple points of failure, specifically with the twist mechanism. You really need to do proper maintenance regularly and proper cleaning for it to continue working as intended. I love this pen, but I definitely can’t recommend it as a beginner-friendly starter pen. Also it’s best to avoid the drier inks, as they can potentially clog the pen and render it unusable.

Such promise; such disappointment.
Everyday, for over 15 years, I have been using Lamy's Pico ballpoint pen. It is the only pen that fits in my pants pocket so I can take it everywhere. Two years ago, when I could not find my pen, I had to use a "normal" (actually a hand made one off) clip-on-pocket ballpoint pen. On a trip, I felt so inconvenienced that I bought two (one chrome and one satin chrome) at Itoya Ginza to guarantee I would always have one. Then I found my trusty black Pico and my life reorganized itself. Even though my black Pico was scratched and scarred (so it could have been described as black and brass) I was addicted to it. I have given the two other Picos to friends who happily, so far, use them everyday. When I saw the Dialog 3 fountain pen I could not resist. I had been hoping to find a nib pen equivalent to my Pico so I could carry it in my pants pocket (not always having a shirt pocket) and practice sketching and calligraphy whenever I was in the mood. I ordered it in Palladium finish with extra find nib. It is my mistake that the Dialog 3 is too long to fit comfortably in my pocket--so that does not affect the score I give this pen. It is not my fault that it does not operate as a Lamy should. Reviewers praised the existence of parallel grooves that align when the pen is closed. Well, mine did when I first got it--nifty. But the first time I unscrewed it completely to fill the reservoir, it would not return to that alignment when closed. If I care about that alignment I must deliberately turn beyond the point where I feel it is closed--a point someplace beyond a Lamy click and freewheeling. An irritant, but it does not affect the way the pen scribes lines. My main complaint is that despite everyday use the nib dries up. Then the nib started drying up as I was writing. At first I thought I had run out of ink. But no; the reservoir had lots of ink. Another issue is that thickness of line is sometimes inconsistent. As a professional illustrator I am cognizant of the pressure I use and know how to apply it consistently. That has not helped with the Dialog 3. It would give me bold lines until it decides to give me fine lines and then pretend to run dry. I will use it for awhile longer, but worry that I must consign it to the box with my Montegrappas, Montblancs, Parkers, Pelicans, Sailors and other Lamy pens. I am grateful to Lamy for having produced the Pico.

So Far, Excellent
I received this pen only a week ago. I'll update this review later if things go downhill. But so far, I'm super happy with this purchase! The pen came nicely packaged in the original box. It includes both a converter and an ink cartridge. I noticed just before writing this review that some people seem to have expected a matte black pen here. The one I received is shiny, which is what I expected. In the hand the pen has a nice heft and feel. Some reviews I've read have said that it feels too big. I don't think I have very large hands but I have no problem with the width; to the contrary I find it to be very comfortable. As for the nib, writing is a dream. I filled the converter with Diamine ink upon arrival, and had zero problem getting the flow started. Interaction with the page is smooth beyond smooth, just wet enough. Even smoother feeling than my Montblanc M nib. Zero feedback. Finally, the closure mechanism so far has been perfect. It's Monday morning and I've left the pen untouched on my desk since Friday. I opened the pen and got an immediate perfect line -- no hard start, no skipping. To close out this review it's probably worth doing a quick comparison of this pen to a Pilot Vanishing Point, which is also sitting on my desk (F nib), and which is inked up with the exact same ink as my new Dialog. Some thoughts: - The VP doesn't look nearly as elegant; its design is far more utilitarian. - In the hand the VP is thinner and I feel like I have slightly more precise control. If I wanted to draw a picture or something I feel that the VP would be ideal vs the Dialog. - I also think the VP's clicking closure is a bit nicer if you're not going to have a long writing session. - This morning's hard start test mentioned above? The VP failed miserably; the ink had become somewhat dry at the tip over the weekend and I had to wipe the excess away with a cloth and then scribble a bunch of lines before I could write. - The VP's nib has always given me a touch of scratchy feedback. I've never minded it, but compared to the Dialog it feels very rough. - The Dialog's line width in EF is maybe 25% bolder than the VP in F. That's enough for now. In case it's not painfully obvious I definitely recommend this pen. Happy writing!

Arrived broken.
This item arrived broken. The pen would not extend or retract properly and after trying to get the correct alignment to fully close the gap between the parts, the clip and ball valve rotation get fell out. I returned it but have not been refunded yet. I will give it another week and then take further action. I’ll keep you posted.

My hand is small, and the pen feels a bit bold and heavy for me, but it’s fine. I bought an extra fine nib, but it looks more like a medium nib, and it takes some time to dry. Today, a large drop of ink fell from the pen onto my notebook. I always gently screw the nib in and out, but a few times it has gotten stuck after I screw it in. I’m not sure if it’s the pen's design or if my pen has an issue.

EF nib was bit off for my writing! It was off-guiding my straight strokes and kinda irritating! So I changed the nib to Z52 Fine nib, Gold plated nib was quite expensive. It looks super fine with all black features! Writes smooth! I like the twist mechanism for vanishing nib! Unlike annoying clicking, twist is ok, could have been smoother!
