Great family game
This is a great game and I have many wonderful, nostalgic memories playing this game with my father. I was just but a child of 11, when times were easier and the biggest problem you faced was if you were going to watch GI Joe or if you were going to head outside and ride your Huffy around the neighborhood with a baseball card securely fastened to the rear wheel where it gently tapped against the spokes making a humming noise that made me feel like I was in the Grand Prix world championship. Now, all these years later, I have grown into a man and I play this game with my son. My son is 11, very much a child at this point, but well on his way to adolescence and soon the verge of manhood. The reason I enjoy playing this game so much is in hopes that my son, like me, has fond memories of it when he is an adult with a family of his own. That and he is truly terrible at the game of Stratego and I’m able to dominate and belittle him using cliche taunts such as “God you suck!!!” And “Are you really that stupid?!?!?” and as I watch him walk away with tears in his eyes it’s at that moment that I know he’s having the time of his life and he’ll look back at these moments fondly and say “Those were the good ol’ days”

Much improved from previous version. No stickers!
Great quality for the price. This is a huge improvement in quality over the previous version from this publisher (Play Monster). I had purchased the older version from Walmart a few years ago and after a week the stickers for the pieces were peeling off. It was cool to have colorful pictures on the pieces the first few times I played the older version but it wasn't worth the cheap adhesive quality. For this version the pieces have painted numbers and image outlines on the pieces themselves so no setup is required. I haven't tested the durability of the paint to see how easily it will scratch off but it looks like it will last. The packaging was snug and the board quality is great. The addition of the cardboard screen was nice. The pieces themselves are good quality for inexpensive plastic with no mold lines or extra flakes of plastic coming off from the manufacturing process. The plastic containers they come in have labels for where all the pieces go. I don't see the plastic containers lasting many years but they are good for the price and a welcome improvement.I'm sure Broken Token or another third party will create a wooden box insert replacement for the manufacturer inserts but the ones that come with this version are a huge improvement from the older version. Thanks for fixing this, Play Monster!

Childhood memories.
I loved playing this game with my Dad when I was a kid. I'm thrilled to have this game again. And thank you (John), for the kind note in the package.

Old timey fun
We've recently been getting into some board games with the kids, 9 and 12. There's too much tome spent on electronics so we try to mix it up and Stratego was one I loved as a kid. Part chess, part battleship you maneuver pieces about the board and only you know what each piece is. The goal is to watch your opponent's moves, try to guess which of their pieces are which, and finally break through their defenses to capture their flag. The kids love it as much as I did at their age....thankfully! The pieces are nicely detailed as is the game board. Should give us years of fun.

Original Version - Sort of
I grew up playing this game in the 60's so I bought it for my 11 yr old grandson. I chose this particular version because it advertised no stickers to apply - what a giant relief that is! Now I just hope the paint used holds up well over the years. In preparation to play as soon as he opened it, I watched a couple videos on how the play; but apparently the game maker changed it some to perhaps be less confusing: the old way had rankings of pieces go down as the numbers went up, and the new way has the rankings go up along with the numbers. This is an improvement, I think, but I'm not sure what makes the game "Original" - also, the board is not quite the same (bad - I had to keep referring to the instruction booklet to keep my army's men straight in my head) and the pieces are circular now (which is fine). Bottom line: my grandson just loved the game and played multiple family members as soon as he got home!

Great game with PAINTED pieces once again!
I held off years due to the versions prior to this with stickers for the pieces. Well they are redone now like the original game with painted ranks. The game is played opposite of the old one which used lower number as the stronger pieces. Now the higher ranked pieces hold a higher number which makes more sense. Stratego is a little complicated for younger players so I advise you watching a video or going to the Stratego web site where you can practice online for free as well. These are good ways to learn the board game if you have no one to play with right away. I played this game at 6 years old. Our little guy has mastered it too at a young age. What's better than seeing your kid playing a board game rather than being stuck to a TV or computer. Yes, totally recommended for sure. Excellent game play.

Excellent strategy game with excellent customer service
My wife always talked about playing Stratego as a kid so I bought this for her birthday present. We played a few games and had a blast. When friends come over, we turn it into a 2v2 and it gets pretty wild when partners try to figure out if we should wait, attack, decide where to move and what we think a piece may be. It leads to fighting but it's all in good fun. There was a small but major problem with 2 of the pieces. One of the blue piece had a scratch on it and the number 10 was a slightly darker shade of red. The red is unnoticeable unless you look really hard, in which you can immediately identify which piece is the 10.I reached out to customer service and showed them a picture. I added a filter to show how the reds differ. Within a few days, they sent two replacement pieces.
