My wife got me this for Christmas. This is essentially my first model. I used it as a trainer. There are fit issues, the hull doesn’t align properly, the prop shafts don’t have holes in the skegs, a lot of cleaning up is required. That being said, if you want to get into modeling this will teach you how to do it. It’s fairly straightforward and easy with a little patience. The color guide, well I threw that out and looked up reference photos and did a custom paint scheme. I’m very happy with the way it turned out. I plan on doing this exact kit again in about 2 years to compare the two. I’d recommend this kit if you wanted to try your hand at naval modeling. Naval models can be very expensive, from $50-500+, so for $30 I can get over the issues this kit has and use some creativity. Hobby knife, plastic cement(in a jar with a brush in lid), model putty(optional), sanding sticks/paper, black, white, red, grey, blue and brass paint, paint thinner will be needed. I custom mixed the camo colors.

It made my 14 year old son very happy on his birthday. It was not a great price point but the quality was good.

Seams the molds are worn and loosing definition. Rigging instructions terrible. The company that sold it was great and I received it in 4 days. Only my second model so at times I thought I bit off too much. Turned out ok but, what do I know?

Definitely a challenging model. You will need a good set of modeling tools. Much excess plastic to trim, file, and sand. You get two spools of white thread (not black or tan) and a rigging tool, and must create ratlines from scratch. Directions were scant and paint instructions were sometimes incorrect. No distinction between standing and running rigging. I downloaded a number of Victory photos to get it right. I had to use Testors paints and therefore needed to mix paints to approximate Humbrol colors.

Airfix kits are easier to build than some others, which makes it attractive if you want something easier to build. It is still detailed but without so many tiny parts as is typical with some 1/700 ship kits from other companies. I always look forward to building Airfix kits.

It was a good battle ship.

Still in the process of building but it’s my first plastic ship model. Lots of moldings and flash to remove since it’s older but it’s a nice challenge and has great details. It’s bigger than the revell one so keep that in mind. I’ll update if any issues arise before being completed.

El modelo viene completo y muy detallado. El paquete llegó completo y sellado. Los moldes de Airfix son antiguos, así que las piezas viene con rebaba de plástico, pero es fácilmente corregible con lija para modelismo. La escala es excelente para un modelo decorativo sobre una mesa y las instrucciones permiten un acabado muy completo. El modelo no es recomendable para novatos ni intermedios, pero también admite modificaciones y mejoras para modelistas más expertos.
