Matisse's Red Studio was a breakthrough in modern art with its flood of vibrant red color and white sketch lines. The different perspectives Matisse used have been studied and debated by artists since the painting first debuted in 1911. The Red Studio Master Kitz includes all the tools your child needs to create their own masterpiece along with learning materials to deepen their understanding of the Red Studio and its impact on modern art.

Could be improved easily!
The packaging is awesome! which counts for not much, and the tools are good, the artist info sheet is really fun and informative. The only thing I'm irritated about is that it sounds from the description like there is enough in there for two kids to do the project. There really isn't. They should include two paint brushes (what are foam brushes, $0.25? They can afford to put in two) and there are 2 sticker sheets, but they're not the same. There should be TWO SETS of sticker sheets. My daughter and I did the project and I just drew in the sticker shapes that I didn't get. Also, the stickers didn't stick to the paint - they curled off and fell within the week. Boo. I really like the concept, but it just didn't live up to it's potential. Bummer. I was going to go thru all the kitz, but this was, overall, fun but disappointing. We usually keep our art projects forever, but we just made this last month and it's already in the trash. :o(

Lots of fun for your creative one
I think this is a wonderful idea to spark interest in art and to have a chance to be creative as well. It comes in a nicely designed package, and my 11 year-old daughter was happy to open it up and check it out. Both she and I were not disappointed with the experience this product brought. The paint and markers seem to be very nice quality. I liked that it gave information about Matisse for my daughter to learn about as well as gave her some room to make the painting similar to what Matisse painted or to make it more of her own creation. Only two minor disappointments: 1) she wished there were more than 5 markers with the set--just wanted more colors to use and 2) the stickers didn't stick quite as well as I had hoped, but I think we will just need to use a little glue. It is quite humid here right now--maybe that's the problem. It's the size I expected it to be. I would give this as a gift to someone who is interested in art/likes to be creative. I think it is slightly pricey, but everything inside (other than the sticker issue) seems to be good quality. I received this product free of charge.

The kit comes packaged nicely in a magnetic box
The kit comes packaged nicely in a magnetic box. It includes everything you need with the exception of masking tape and a paper plate. The cartoon story of Henri Matisse was cute and my 9 year old enjoyed reading it. It was a fun rainy day activity, but I think the price point is high for 2 pieces of paper, a stencil and some paints. "I received this product free of charge."

Interesting product idea
It is an interesting concept to help teach kids about art. My complaints with the product would be cost and what you get in the box. Personally I think it should come with a dvd to maybe give the painter information about the artist that they are doing the recreation of and maybe a few painting tips on the dvd as well. The pamphlet/instructions booklet does give information but most small kids would much rather watch a dvd thats draws them into learning about things... I did receive this Free of charge.

Fun from the opening of the colorful box, to the beautiful end result
My 9 year old grandson is enrolled in a public school. While he was in kindergarten he was lucky enough to have a very creative teacher, who introduced the students to the styles of various artists. The Red Studio, by Henri Matisse, is part of the Master Kitz series. It could not have been a more perfect gift!First of all, the supplies you need to complete the project are included in generous quantities. You do have to supply masking tape (to hold the paper in place). The background information about the artist, as well as the instuctions, were easily handled by a fourth grader, reading on grade level. Younger children might need some help in that area, but the project is such fun, that I would think you would want to participate. My grandson's friend, also 9 years old, dropped by for a visit, and was totally drawn into the project. There was enough for both boys to do, but occasionally they had to take turns-no problem-because there were lots of parts they could work on at the same time, (particularly designing the stickers).I would definitely give this as a gift-it can be messy, but they worked on a cheap plastic tablecloth, on a backyard table. The satisfaction and smiles on both boys throughout was wonderful.I received this product free of charge.

Instant artist!
Great quality kit! My 6 year old thought "it was really fun." Made a perfect size almost professional quality work of art that could easily be shown off in the house without having a "kid's artwork appearance". Liked that despite its elevated approach it still allowed for great creativity along the way. Would make a great gift for a young one! I received this product free of charge.
