Jerry Coker's Complete Method for Improvisation: For All Instruments (CD included)

Learning how to Improvise
Solo efforts on your instruments come out of chord progressions and inventive use of the various scales. This books shows you various chord structures like the blues 1 IV V or jazz II V I progression and how to work on it. A good overview of the process similar to the Gary Campbell Expansions books, but as in depth as The Jazz Theory Book by Mark Levine, which is a book all jazz people must have in their library. Jerry's book comes with a CD to help out as well. Good price good book good luck on playing and practicing.

Good Book
I find jerry's Complete Method for Improvisation very interesting and useful. It should be what beginners, practising musicians and those interested in improvisation read to enhance their knowledge and skill. I find every chapter useful, practical and easy to understand. Good for any aspiring instrumentalist. Written in simple and practical manner which I am sure will be an effective tool when anyone needs to untangle the complexity of "improvisation". Give us more of such, Jerry. Thanks.

Jerry Coker is one of the best educators in jazz study.
Solid text book for any level player. I think this will also work well in a jazz class. Coker, Aebersold and Baker have done all the work for us now we just need to past it on.
