Great Product Quality
I have installed several DVRs over the years. This one definitely looks like a commercial product with better quality. It allows for two hard drives to be installed and even the BNC connectors connected easier to the camera cables than the DVR being replaced. I have a very special installation with the flat screen using a 70 foot HDMI cable and the mouse using two USB 20 foot extension cords in series to reach into the proper room. The unit had no problem with this installation. Once I got used to the slightly different setup, there were no set up problems. I am running 14 cameras and using email alert for certain motion detection. This unit will be running unattended for the next 5 months in the middle of a forest preserve. I don't expect any problems. The manual comes on a mini CD and I was in the middle of the forest with a laptop that had no CD drive. HD View was able to email me the information I needed to finish the system setup.Remote access to the unit has been flawless, a great improvement from the previous unit.

Nice replacement for my dead NVR.
Very nice NVR. Replaced an older NVR that the network interface was damaged in a storm. I really like being able to add IP cameras from offsite locations. The NAT functionality is a great improvement over the old days of forwarding ports. Only thing that concerns me is finding anything about support or firmware updates for this. Can't find anything online and there is nothing in the literature or software that came with it.

Excellent unit and great interface software
Using this with 16 previous cameras I had (No IP) and the system works great. Much Clearer picture then previous unit (Swann) and the software interface is amazing. I am able to control/view/back(Download) files all from my Mac on the LAN. Remote viewing on iPad and iPhone work excellent and easily setup. I am still working on viewing remotely on the Mac, But I am sure it will work fine.

Hacked Viewer software
Looking at the listing I thought I was getting something that will work with standard CMS viewer, unfortunately this is software piracy, the name is changed but it's exactly what I had with my 16 Q-See QT, as a matter of fact it wouldn't install until I removed the Q-See viewer, my main purpose was to view all my 4 DVRs on a single display with CMS, which supports unlimited dvr, instead I was scammed by this dvr maker who stole the QTView from Q-See which I already have 3 of their DVRs but they don't support the PTZ cameras I have, which are all A-Zone.If you already have Q-See product you should NOT buy this misleading trash. I hope Amazon will post this review, if not I will be out of here for the next 6 months so they learn their lesson, Amazon hates to see honest and technical reviews because they are OK with software piracy and poor performance of the trash that is dumped on their platform!OUT!

I will consider it a good value as long as it continues to work for a few years...
*** UPDATE (4/22/16)The Live view (live video monitoring) has been a real problem--and so has the lack of support. I need the Live view to show a larger image of several selected cameras. But it resets itself to a grid display after two minutes--the feeds we need to see are way too small and this makes it hard to monitor what's happening in various parts of the building. The seller's one-line response was: "please reset your DVR."I have spent hours with the clunky interface setting up the DVR the way I need it to function. I don't want to redo all that work this time and every subsequent time something doesn't respond properly. Repeated requests to the seller for more meaningful help have gone unanswered. Your mileage may vary.*** ORIGINAL REVIEW (4/2/16)I needed to replace my old Lorex DVR that stopped working. We have 16 analog cameras and Lorex just stopped selling the 16 channel analog recorder. Everything is moving to IP cameras and it's getting harder and harder to find devices that support my existing cameras. This device from HDView does exactly what I need. In addition to the 16 analog cameras it has the added bonus of working with 8 IP cameras. So this DVR gives me a way to start transitioning from my old analog to new IP cameras. As long as the DVR continues to work for a few years, I will consider it a good value. It would have been five stars if the documentation were better. There is almost none that comes with the device. I hunted down the manual online. It helped a little, but not with the issue I had. If you are having difficulty connecting to your DVR from outside your own network (either with the SuperLivePro app or a browser), be sure that you are forwarding two ports to the device: 80 AND 6036. I emailed support at the HDView website and they replied with that helpful info. And since setting up the rules in my firewall, the iPhone app works as expected.

Wow... very nice, everything just works, even for Mac!
Wow... So I bought this some time ago and just had not had time to install it... I was worried I waited too long and something would not work... I am happy to say everything just worked and it was way easy. And the big plus is it looks great and works great. I love the Safari web interface, something I could never get even the big brands to do right. For phones the QR code just loads the remote config right up. Good stuff!

Works but not satisfied, lack instruction for mobile app
I really, really, really don't like writing bad review but I got to say this is a pretty non intuitive DVR. There is a single page for instruction about the DVR but no information on the mobile app. My DVR was shipped missing the power cord and the SATA cable for the hard drive. Also there is no output resolution setting so more than likely it is set for 1024x768 which looks over size on a standard LCD/LED TV so the menu down on the bottom is very hard to get to. If you are looking for the Mobile App it is called SuperLiveView.
