8800 Booster Pump with Transformer, black

Used as a pump on a reverse osmosis system to concentrate maple sap. Works well.

Uses 1/16 allen key for pressure adjustment. If you buy the TSO (tank shut off) that one takes a .050 allen key for pressure adjustment. I mounted it with M5x40mm bolts and nuts, they are slightly undersized for the holes but that's ok because you don't want to thread into the rubber mounts. I'm satisfied, it's quiet, it looks good, it's professional.

I needed a pump that was strong enough to take water from a bucket 3 feet below a sink and then to my RO system. Though I've only owned it for about 2 weeks, I'm confident. I was very impressed the pump provides a surprising 60psi through about 12 feet of 1/4 inch plastic tubing. I was even more pleased by how quiet the motor runs. The motor is mounted of four rubber-pegs. Though you can see it vibrating, you cannot hear it. The cable coming from the motor going to the transformer is somewhat short--Perhaps it's just a preference. However, the length of the cable to the transformer is more than generous. I've run it for more than four hours at a time and it doesn't get too hot to the touch. In my opinion, the Aquatec 8800 is a well manufactured motor.

I feel like these pumps are a little pricy. I spent almost the same on my entire ro system. With that being said it's a well built pump. The only issue I am having is with aquatec tso shut off switches. I received one that seems to be faulty and only turns on after I tap on it. As far as ease of use and installation if it's not working properly it's incredibly difficult to determine what's wrong with the system. It's even more frustrating when there's a mechanical failure on something you just purchased.

Noisier than the pump it replaced. Pump was relatively easy to install: quick connects work well (previous pump leaked at connections).

Pros: - Capable of delivering 110 PSI output (needs a check valve on the output to do so) - Quiet - Compact - Comes with pre-installed nice mounting bracket w/ rubber isolation feet Cons: - Died after about 2 weeks of use in a high pressure aeroponics system (can only output 1 or 2 PSI now) - Failure was swift & sudden (only minutes of early warning) Notes: - Pump ran great in a HPA (high pressure aeroponics) setup for a little while - One day, noticed it was running longer than usual - Pressure meter indicated that the pump could not output more than ~90 PSI - Turned it off, disconnected it from the system, checked & cleaned the input filter (no material blockages found) - Reconnected it to the system, turned it back on - no output pressure (meter reads only 1 or 2 PSI)

It really pumped up pressure on my Bulk Reef Supply 7 stage ROI. But it’s noisy, not a problem out in porch.
