Outstanding Product
I've been putting off getting one of these for years, because the paper filters were doing a fine job. Then just last week, as I was about to make a cup of wonderful coffee with my Aeropress, I noticed it was about time to order some new paper filters. So I came to Amazon to do so and, just as I was about to to add the paper filters to my cart, I remember a conversation I was having a few years ago with two of my closest friends, Brian and Kevin, about the Able metal disk filter. Seriously, we really had an actual conversation about making coffee...in between political debates. See what you have to look forward to when you reach your forties, kids? They both swore by it and sung the praises of retaining more of the coffee oils and how that improved the flavor and body of the coffee. So, I browsed the various disk filters. I was going to order a very similar metal disk filter from another company, but then I noticed the ABLE one and remembered THIS was the specific product my brothers told me about. Yeah, it was a little more expensive than the other disk and a little more expensive (like a dollar or so) than the paper filters, but I am a firm believer in Proverbs 32:12 (KJV), which says "Thou gettest what thou payest for."So I paid more for the real deal and I am very pleased. Like everyone is saying, it retains more of the coffee oils, so you get a a purer cup. The paper filters absorb a lot of the oils, which still makes a great cup of coffee, but this just improves on an already great product. Some people have reported more sediment, but I actually had less sediment in my coffee than with the paper filters. It's probably the grind, because it didn't require as much effort to plunge as usual, either. I use the inverted method, but that didn't seem to make any difference in difficulty or whatever. But as everyone is saying, when you drop the disk into the black filter holder, whatever method you use, if you don't see the etched writing arched around the edge of the filter, you're going to have some difficulty. Just remember the prophetic lyrics spoken in the 1980s by the sagacious band Cameo--"Word(s) up."In summary, you get a great cup of coffee using the ABLE metal disk filter and and you get to feel a little more snooty about your role in reducing landfill waste by reusing this filter every time you do something wonderful for yourself and prevent yourself from re-enacting the church fight scene in the first "Kingsman" movie at work.Everybody wins when you purchase and use this filter. Even the Narwhals. And that's really what this is about, isn't it?

Works great.
I love this little guy. Ive been using the Aeropress for a year now with the included paper filters and always wanted to see if i was missing anything by not using a reusable filter. So I bought this filter and I'm glad I did. I wouldn't say that the coffee is better when I use this filter vs the paper. I would say its just a different style.... like it has little more depth to the taste. I like the 'fine' filter cause it really does keep almost all the grinds out. When I use this filter and i'm at the last sip of my coffee I can see a thin circle of silt at the bottom of my cup about the size of a nickel. I like to swirl my cup to mix the silt with the rest of the coffee and then savor the last sip.mmmm then I cant wait till tomorrow to have another cup! Also just so you know, this filter is really thin. It fits great on the Aeropress and creates a good seal. Because it's so thin it is kinda on the fragile side. I can see someone bending this filter if they are not mindful of it. It feels well engineered and would not consider this a design flaw but rather a character trait of this filter.

For Aeropress THIS is the filter to get, hands down.
Been using it steadily since I got it, the fine mesh performs fantastic and unlike the paper filters, lets the oils in the coffee pass through for your enjoyment. It cleans easily and after the first couple of times you'll adapt to both removing it and fitting it in the filter house to use. Unlike the paper filters which would "fight" letting liquid pass through with the finer grinds, the Able's handled everything I've thrown at it even up to Turkish fineness, letting the brew pass through with a steady, ordinary downward pressure.Very durable despite being such a thin and porous metal, but I'd suggest a little care in handling it just to remain on the safe side. Besides the better taste of the coffee, it eliminates you ever having to worry about running low on the paper filters as well as their expense. Cleanup is as simple as rinse and run a dishcloth/sponge over each side and you're done, not quite as convenient as discarding it with the grind puck but I'll take that trade off for what I've gained without hesitation.
