Good reviews were true
Performs as advertised. Included a little flyer behind the lids. Great fit on wide mouth Ball mason jars.

Awesome easy clean convenient and cheap
Awesome easy to clean convenient and cheap product for sprouters. They can leak a bit using the smallest seeds that can collect around the brim a bit but this is easily overcome and a small price to pay. The convenience of being able to use any common wide mouth canning jars from the small 12 ounce models to the gallon size is what makes this product very convenient. A no brainer for your sprout kit and an awesome addition to any emergency supply kit (as long as you have ample water to rinse and grow(rinse and soak water can be reused in cooking and for other purposes)) with seeds to give fresh greens in hard times.

Nice Product!
These are as nice as my antique sprouting lids, which are over 35 years old. They are the same type and just as heavy. I really expected them to be cheap, flimsy plastic. They're not!!! I especially like the mid sized screen for draining the hulls from small seeds. Very satisfied with the product!

Water pools across the lid during filling, but overall they work
I already had lids of the smaller size holes that is part of this set, but not the medium and larger sized. With every lid of this type that I have used before, I have experienced that when I pour water in from the top to add the fresh water, it pools over the entire top, rather than going straight down through the holes. Might be a water surface tention thing. Maybe that does not happen with metal screens, just the plastic. I don't know. Having said that, overall, these lids work well for the draining and keeping seeds in the jar. I particularly like the two lids with the larger sized holes for when sprouts get large enough that they don't go through the small holes anymore or if the sprouts are already of a size that they won't fall through. That does make dumping the water out a little easier. The lids fit your typical mason jars well and have tiny "feet" on them where you could, in theory, tip the jar over on its head and the excess water would drain out. I always just tip the jar at an angle in a bowl and that works fine. Tipping it that way also provides better airflow, and the seeds or sprouts don't all clump to the bottom but rather can be spread out more along the side of the jar. Just about anything can be used to top a jar to add or drain water (screen material, muslin cloth, etc.), but these are still very handy and make a great starter set if you are just getting into sprouting. I am generally pleased with the product. I just ordered more in a set of three because I am increasing my adventure with sprouting larger seeds and beans.

Five Star ... Econo-Sprouter Toppers
This product makes sprouting seeds in quart mason jars easy. I have used it for several batches and am now will be ordering more to expand my sprouting. My wife and I love the fresh alfalfa sprouts every day. We are looking to add mung beans next. I have also started using them to do my wheatgrass for the first two days before I put the seed into the sprouting trays. This has saved me having to order more trays. Note: don't crank them onto the mason jars tight. Just snug is more then enough. If you put them on tight, particularly if they or the jar is wet, they are hard to get off after they have had a chance to dry. I learned that one the hard way. Other then that, the only other problem I see with these is that I will have to go get more mason jars for the next batch I order ... lol All in all, I am very pleased with the product. Yes, they are plastic, but I have had no problems with them breaking or getting brittle. I am giving them a 5 out of 5 for simplicity of use, and durability.

These work great. I bought them at the same time as ...
These work great. I bought them at the same time as I bought a sample kit of seeds from The Sprout House. Having lids with different sized holes lets me flush hulls as the sprouts grow larger without losing sprouts, simply by changing lids. The lids allow good drainage, with holes out very near the edge. I prop the jar up in my counter top dish drainer at about a 60 degree angle as suggested, and the jar drains perfectly. Sprouting is so simple and easy, and so productive and tasty I'm sad I didn't start doing it years ago. I figure about 5 minutes of time invested for each quart jar full on sprouts. Drop seeds in jar, add water, soak over night. Next morning, drain water, fill jar( I never take the lid off, just fill through it ) and drain again and set in drain rack. Rinse and drain morning and evening for about 5 days, done. That said, I have my own well with no chlorine, so my tap water is fine. I can't comment on using city water or any water treated with anything.

Still good 4 decades later
I am a big fan now of the metal screen lids and begin my small seeds with them for maximum water flow in and out. I upgrade to these with the larger holes as the sprouts grow to enable the hulls to fall out of the jar when rinsing. Either of the two larger grids work great for this purpose for alfalfa. There is a great insert that comes with the lids! Lots of information on sprouting different seeds the simplest way. Printed on cardstock, folded the full size of the package stapled inside. It's worth saving as a reference. I have been giving these as gifts to newbys along with metal screens to make sprouting a better experience. Rinsing away the hulls may keep your sprouts fresher. (Yes, I rinse my sprouts in a bowl of water near the end of sprouting to remove the hulls too.)
