Moleskine Classic Notebook, Hard Cover, Large (5" x 8.25") Ruled/Lined, Scarlet Red, 240 Pages

For over 20 years now, my family has kept a one-page record each December of what we did for Christmas as a family. It includes who attended, what food we ate, and the location of our get-together. It also includes a special "Jesus Gift" offering that we take up and as a family decide who to give it to (outside the family) for that year. This is also recorded in the book. Well, our first little book was full, so this year I searched the world over and found this perfect little notebook for our next 20+ years of Christmas recordkeeping. Now I want to buy more and use them for other things and even give them as gifts. It's nice, sturdy, professional-looking and has a little place to hang a pen. Excellent.

My first Moleskine. Such a treat, with its high quality ruled paper, the attached envelope, made of heavy paper, folded into the back cover with the opening toward the spine so the contents don't fall out. For once, I didn't have to create my own pocket on an inside cover). I enjoy this notebook the most of any journal I have ever used, and I am serious when I say this. I have writing ideas in here, from all sorts of sources, so a few pages at the front are saved for my Table Of Contents. I want to be able to find ideas by subject.(I numbered all of the pages in this journal). For all of this, I followed the advice of a very organized writer. If it seems over-the-top, well, at least we are finding what we look for when we need it. This is a substantial notebook with good, tight binding and sturdy, colorful covers if color is for you. If not, it also comes in black of course.

This is the best journal out there. I have been journaling for approx. 10 years and have found nothing that even compares. I love the pocket in the back and the smooth leather feel of the journal. It is compact enough to carry but big enough to fix a year's worth of journal entries. The only thing I would say is to not overflow the pocket in the back, as mine ripped when stuffed too much! Oops!

I have been using this notebook for years and was delighted when I ordered a replacement most recently and discovered that it now has a bookmark ribbon as well as the elastic it has always come with. I love everything about this notebook - the pages and line spacing are perfect, the color is great, the elastic and bookmark are super useful. Very sturdy and opens perfectly flat. Beautifully stitch bound. Oh, and it has a neat little portfolio fold-out pocket in the back. Should I be this excited about a notebook??

Simply stated, this is a quality product that is hard to find locally (B&N stores carry them). I replaced all my complex time management paper based planners with a Moleskine and the Iphone (premised upon the GTD organizational philosophy). What a difference. I have used Daytimer, Franklin Covey, and Rolodex in the past. I have also been formally trained in the Franklin Covey time management systems. In the end (after 10 years of "fighting" to make them work), I am finally @ peace. By the way, our 8 year old uses a Moleskine as a journal. She writes stories, play's, songs, and even does mind dumping into it. We simply label each Moleskine with the year and keep them bound on an office shelf. From a technical standpoint, the paper is top of the line as is the cover. I use Levenger pens with mine and found writing to be a pleasure in an era of countless keyboard clicks.

A student's story: When I was in college and went out on field trips carrying my lab notebook(s), we students were warned not to write in our lab notebooks with ink. We were required to use pencils only -- whether they were just ordinary pencils or fancy mechanical pencils. Our lab notes were very important and when we returned to the classroom they were graded by our professors. Ink pens had a fallibility that we were able to avoid by using pencils: Ink pens could run and destroy our notes if even a drop of water got splashed on a page. God forbid that we get caught in the rain with notebooks that got wet when we were out in the boonies. The ink from pens could run and ruin our notes, thus preventing us and the profs from deciphering our handwriting. Because the use of pencils was required, I -- except when writing personal letters and the like -- got into the habit of never using ink pens, neither for lab notes nor for my personal journals. That means I do not have to worry about writing with ink pens that bleed through to the back of a page. These wonderful notebooks are perfect for my needs, and i recommend them highly, whether for personal journals, daily reminders, essays, blogs or the like. When I am not using my journal, I keep it in a Ziploc bag to keep it clean and dry. These notebooks are worth the extra care.

I've loved this particular journaling notebook for several years, so my daughter GIFTED me this new one and I didn't notice right away they sent the wrong one . I tried to exchange it for a lined notebook, but my daughter didn't find the paperwork right away -- and it generally became a hassle trying to work with the 3rd party company.. I gave that one away and ordered new notebook, making sure it was the "right one" the day it arrived. All I needed to say actually is, this is a great product but be sure and check immediately and keep your paperwork handy bc you might need it.

I have owned several Moleskine notebooks in various sizes. I prefer this one for the size and the the simple fact that I love red. The paper is smooth and a lovely off white color. The elastic is very durable, I have never stretched one out yet. The back pocket is sleek and small, but perfect for holding a few extra papers without bulging the notebook. The cover is very durable I have several on my shelf full of notes taken over the past few years and the covers are as good as new. The color does not fade, although I have noted the color varies slightly from one product to the next, not a real issue. There are no perforations so you can not easily tear out pages. The pages are sewn in so if you do tear out a page you must leave a small margin on the binding or it will loosen other pages. I am a faithful Moleskine user and would recommend this or any of their notebooks to anyone wanting to record their notes for posterity.
