Best one yet
I'm a home inspector and I've used a lot of these type non contact voltage detectors and this is the best brand yet. For what I do the detector shouldn't be too sensitive. A detector which is too sensitive is no use to me. This one is just right. I can touch it to the hot side of an outlet and it beeps but won't on the neutral. It's always on which I like and it beeps and flashes when you touch it to a hot wire. Also it looks sturdy. A good product I'll buy again.

World’s Most Underrated Tic Tracer
If you use this tic tracer you’ll never want to use another one. As an electrician i keep it on me all day.- It’s always on, no on/off buttons that eventually break- Doesn’t drain batteries, I get about 6 months with energizers/duracell- Glows and Beeps for 120v, glows but doesn’t beep for lower voltage, this is really handy for troubleshooting.-No false positives with this because it’s 50-1000v.If you’re in the market for a voltage detector, this is the one to get. Will buy again and again

Works great
I am an electrician and use this tool daily. It is always in my pocket and works great. The fact that it has no switch on it it is PERFECT. I had couple brands with switch on it, the switch goes bad quickly or sometimes I forget to press the switch.Amazing tool. You won't regret.

Great tester
This has been a great tester that is basic but does what it needs to do. I don't need all the bells and whistles just want to make sure when there is power to a device.

doesn't work with tamper resistant receptacles
Santronics is very accurate. My Klein would often signal "hot" when a neutral wire was close to the hot wire. Klein would also signal "hot" when a receptacle was getting very little voltage, and not getting enough voltage to turn on a lamp. This is very confusing. This A/C volt detector doesn't give false positives for 120/240 USA home receptacles. I try not to buy anything made in china but have when I didn't have a choice. I tried this one because it was USA made and it turned out to be a much better product for an armature.

The Best Voltage Tester, US-made
Everyone knows how frustrating NCVT’s can be. The cheap ones work, but not reliably, & sometimes stop working.I took a few NFPA courses, and the electrical instructor recommended the Santronics 3115 tester, as it’s the only one approved by OSHA.I got one, and it’s great. But an audio NCVT is also useful & Santronics 3000 fits that bill. It’s every bit as accurate & tough as the 3115, and doesn’t have any of the stupid bells & whistles of “fancier” units. Santronics is also the only American company making NCVT’s.I’m a facility maintenance worker at a hospital, so we are frequently testing & repairing electrical devices & circuits. I’d had a couple Klein’s over the years, & an excellent Fluke tester. The Klein’s are good, but seem to have long term reliability issues. My Fluke is actually made by Santronics, but their newer units are not. Fluke’s newer models also require a separate tester for low voltage.Pros:• Always on• Bright Light• Loud Beep• Aside from minor bumps which make it flash, I haven’t had any false positives or negatives.• Polycarbonate construction is really tough• Made in the USA• Great PriceCons:• Unlike the Santronics 3115, which visual only, the 3000 is not OSHA approved. Probably a bureaucratic thing, as the 3115 is the ONLY OSHA approved tester.

Life saving tool light enough to always have with you.
I have used this one for many years and it has helped me stay safe and alive when working around household electric power.I bought one for my son who just moved into a new house and he got to use it within a few days safely removing a faulty light fixture.Electric wires are like firearms, they are always loaded until you check them yourself. The small pocket size nature of this tool means that it’ll always be in your pocket, not buried in some toolbox or out in the truck where you might be tempted to take a shortcut and not get it when you’re in a hurry. Taking shortcuts with electricity is taking a shortcut to the cemetery…. and those guys don’t get to write reviews.

The best I've used.
Purchased one about a year ago and I've beat it up on the job. Stays in my vest all day, Monday through Friday. It requires contact to read properly, which some see as bad. I prefer it since it's nice when you've got a junction box full of wires, and most sensors will just light up within close proximity of the wires, with no accuracy. My only gripe is the sometimes weak contract the battery has internally. So when it's chirping faintly, give it a tap with your hand and it'll clear right up and chirp strongly.Pros- MADE IN U.S.A.- Durable- Pinpoint contact insures accurate reading- Always on, no buttons to pressCons- Intermittent weak battery contact internally
