Much safer than the plastic case that came in
I was surfing in Costa Rica when the original plastic case broke and I was forced to tape it to keep it secure. If you still have the plastic case that came in originally, change it. It could ruin your experience or loose your GoPro session camera. The aluminum case is strong, water proof and has a nice black finish.

Well built.
I haven't tested the waterproofness of this case yet and hope I never do. The case is well built of sturdy plastic which doesn't interfere with the video or photo's. It completely encases the camera and the seal is sturdy. The snap closure is very snug and well built too so I do believe the case is waterproof. I ride my motorcycle on some pretty dusty dirty roads and haven't found any dust inside the case and that's why I believe it will be waterproof. You can't operate the touch screen while it's in this case though, if you could, it wouldn't likely be waterproof.

Outstanding case, durable, easy to use - Modified for rear light
Was looking for a replacement case; this one was about the same price as the cheaper plastic GoPro case.. Since the Go Pro OEM case barely lasted 1.5 years figured this aluminum case would offer durability. Was quite elated on receiving the case. Can open and close the side door to access the SD card & charge the camera. There is a recess in the back to access the camera control button. I did swap over to the original GoPro case as it has the rubber stopper to keep the Y spreaders locked in.Have a mount for the camera on my TerraTrike Rover and took those out for a spin and through a few parades. The mount did not move and nary an issue.Did make a small modification with a Dremel tool. Took a small shaped notch out of the lower right corner so I could see the red LED. Also pushed the HERO Session up in the front, mashed the wrist lanyard through the front bezel.Am planning on drilling a small hole through one leg of the case to install the wrist lanyard through. I prefer to keep the camera safe in case the plastic GoPro mount should ever break loose.Definitely & highly recommended that case over the plastic GoPro version, unless ya like throwing your money away.

durable cases
after i submit the review, then i just found out the aluminum case is same amazon product list, so i cant submit an separated review for the the aluminium case. then i just make 2 cases review together.- Plastic case -i buy this protection case for my new toy (gopro hero 8 black), the camera just released about 3 weeks,i think it's the first after market case i found on amazon. the case super light weigh, it's about 20g without the camera and 146g with the gopro 8 camera. it's case is fit the camera very well, and the back panel is a little tight, but once you close it, it's very secure, the left of the case has a open hole, then i can change my battery without remove the camera from the case. the only thing i want it can be improve is the mounting screw, i wish it can be change to right side. otherwise, it will be harder to open the battery cover.- Aluminum case -the aluminum case it's about same size and sharp as the plastic one. the weight about 69g without the camera and 195g withe the camera. it feel a little bit heaver, but it will feel more solid and durable on hand. the aluminum can with a small screw drive to thigh up the the screw on top to secure the camera inside. there is a soft plastic on top to protect the camera, so the screw will not touch the camera and scratch it .after 2 week use them, idid i like the aluminum case more, it's feel more durable. i don't mind have extra 40g weight on it. overall they are both great cases, i love them. definitely recommend it for the gopro hero 8 owners.

almost perfect
First and foremost, let me say that this is an excellent little cage for my GoPro Session with supremely precise machining. So please, don't let the following criticism color my review too much, because my criticism is very nit picky.Although, yes, I do have a nit to pick. See the pictures.Do you see in the first picture the red light in the upper left corner that I've circled? That thing blinks when the camera is recording, and remains solid red when charging. But I took that picture with the rear gate panel thing off. What happens when I put the gate panel thing in place in the second picture? That red light is completely, 100% obscured, completely covered, completely hidden.I use my camera as a dash cam in my car and I hang it from the rear view mirror, and it turns out I've been in the habit of checking that little red light ALL THE TIME as a confidence that it's recording. The bottom line is that it's a real PITA having that thing covered.I would really love it if the designers/manufacturers could just punch a little pinhole right at that spot so some light could come through. That red light is there for a reason and I find it very useful indeed, and to have it covered by this frame is a bit disappointing.Still, I give it four out of five stars overall, and it would be five out of five, but its not quite perfect yet.

Bargain must have
Not sure why there’s a rating for the touchscreen as unsurprisingly the touchscreen can’t be used with the case on.As for the case itself it appears to be strong and sturdy and fits the go pro 9 perfectly. It hasn’t been submerged yet as it’s only been used as an added layer of protection more than anything. As you might expect with the microphone covered it does muffle the sound considerably so bear that in mind if sound is an important part of your recording. All in all it’s a bargain at a fraction of the price of the official GP one therefore it’s a no brainer.

Well made but flawed
This case is made from high quality machined aluminum and looks like it offers better protection in case of a crash than the plastic case that comes with the Gopro. However the case does not snap shut like the plastic case and therefore the camera is not held as securely. Also, the rear of the case fits snugly but again doesn't snap shut. Therefore the case rattles when fixed to a bike. While this doesn't affect the video quality due to the Gopro's video stabilisation ability, it totally messes with the sound quality as all the microphone pics up is the sound of the case rattling. I tried lining the case with masking tape and while is stopped the rattle when the camera was held and shaken, when on bumpy roads it made no difference. This case may be better if used for anything other than cycling but I cannot recommend it for use with a bicycle.

Strong and sturdy with back slide door
Fits ok button on the top of GoPro just catches not a problem and keeps the camera secure with top screw of case and lets you fit accessories to the cage overall very good
