For the 8' x 7' option is it possible to order without red sides? I want to purchase 2 of these since I have a 16' opening I need to install them in?

Yes it has holes so you can screw up as well as from the side.

The 3rd strip from the right only covers 25% ?? Not all cover 56% overlap correct?

After measuring opening I placed strips evenly so all over lapped equally. That way there was only a very small difference if any.
