The Vanguard ALTA rain covers are made from nylon with the only likely noise coming from the Velcro attachment around the lens which would only occur during fitting or removal.

Hello Brooke and thank you for your interest in the Vanguard ALTA RCM. If your 70-200mm is an F2.8 or fixed F4, then the RCM will be fine. If the lens is F4.5 or slower, or with a variable maximum aperture, then the ALTA RCS would be a better match.
