My son uses these pants for umpiring, and they’re perfect! It’s tough to find “dress” pants that fit younger kids properly, but these do the trick. The flex waist is a huge bonus — it gives a clean, professional look while still being comfortable enough for movement on the field. They wash well, hold their shape, and look great. I ordered a 6 slim for my son as he is slender. They length was okay- but I still have to cinch the ajustable waist which is fine as he will grow. Great uniform pants for school. Very thick material- well made- snap button front makes it easy for him to undo and clasp his pants. The thick, stiff material is very durable and also repels grass, mud, food, marker and other little boy stains. The material softens after a couple of washes but the thickness makes them last sooo much longer than dockers, old navy, kohls, or JC Penny uniform pants. I bought 4 pair. No more torn out knees after 2 months of wear and tear and no more marker and grass stains after just the first few wears. I highly recommend these pants for any grubby, little growing boys needing uniform pants to last longer than 1 semester.

These are great pants, they are of nice quality and have good color saturation. But...after reading the reviews from all the moms who said that they fit more snugly than expected, I was hoping that these would fit my tall, super skinny boy, and they didn't. All the adjustable elastic waists in the world couldn't have made this work. So to all the other moms of tall, super skinny boys, these aren't the answer to your prayers. I'm sorry. I was hoping we'd all be able to rejoice together in the awesomeness that is pants that are long enough and small enough for the tall, super skinny kid, but no dice. However, if you have a boy of average proportions, you probably can't go too wrong with these. As I said above, they have a good color saturation, look to be of good quality material and workmanship, and they have the buttonhole elastic that makes for easier fitting. I gave them 4 stars on the quality, they probably deserve a 5, but it's hard to give the full 5 when you don't know how they'll wear when you didn't wash them and are planning to return them because they didn't fit. In the meantime, if someone finds pants that fit a boy who's waist/hips are more at home in, say a 4T, but needs the length of size 10s, let me know, because I'd definitely chase that unicorn down.

These are probably the most well-constructed, durable uniform pants my son has had. A lot of reviews indicated that they ran too slim. My son wears slims in all his pants and always does best with adjustable waistbands, like these have. The Dickies do not seem overly slim at all, but fit him well. He is seven years old, in first grade, weighs around 48 pounds and does very well in the size 8 pants that I bought him, although they are a bit long. They look nicer and hold their color better than any other navy pants he has worn. The reinforced knees are great. One caution--I did not expect the small Dickies logo on the back of the pants. We are getting away with it at school, but if your school is strict on that, be aware that it is there.

Ordered these because I was given 3 days to find black pants for my kid, and the Children's Place ones I previously ordered weren't available in his size (16). My kid is on the skinnier side, but these were big--I had to take in the waist as far as it would go. They also have a 30" inseam, which in on the longer side. They feel polyester and not great. I wouldn't wear them. Honestly, if I had had time to order something else, I probably would have. But I didn't. And I couldn't find anything locally. The price is good and they would probably last a long time. My son needed them for a school performance and graduation, and he'll probably never wear them again, so I didn't want to spend a lot. From that standpoint they were good.
