The Truth lies in the Poopies
Forgive me for being a little graphic here, but to notice a difference in a dog food one must observe its effects on the dog. I have two teacup poodles and I am on a constant quest to find the best food. The kibble size and texture is good for small dogs that sometimes have teeth issues. They can get their chewing in, but it isn't impossibly hard to for the older dog to chew. The biggest difference I notice is the pooping piece. My Benny (see photo) would go out for his morning constitutional and really get those skinny little legs (see same photo) shaking trying to drop a deuce. He'd cover the perimeter of the yard and be lucky if he downloaded and inch or so. It was so sad. With this food, no more strain for gain and instead of the dark deformed little turds, he provides nature with robust not too moist, not too dry supply of processed nutrients. When traveling outside our safe defecation zone, you will be pleased to know that any "Baby Ruths" or "cocktail wieners" that get deposited are easily picked up will no pesky residue. We will purchase this as long as the boys like it.

Best dog food for dogs with allergies.
For two years my dog suffered with serious allergies. The vets were no help. I tried over 20 different brands and even though they were considered grain free they still made him break out and itch. That's until I found this dog food in the lamb- the only food he can eat without breaking out. No more itching, hot spots. Please never discontinue this food as it is the only food my dog can tolerate. Thank you Canidae

Bought because of Clean Label Project
This was one of the highly rated dog foods on the Clean Label Project website. That organization tests dog foods (and other things) for heavy metals and other contaminants. Little did I know that the expensive dog foods I'd been buying for years might have tested high for heavy metals like arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury; and possibly other contaminants like BPA.My dogs seem to like this food, although they've never been too finicky. It has 4 stars on dogfoodadvisor; but I think the Clean Label results more than make up for the missing star. Please do your own research, and find a food that strikes a balance you're comfortable with between ingredient quality, ingredient purity, and cost.

Great dog food!
My dog is allergic to everything, chicken, pork, potatos, rice, wheat, etc. I've tried several dog foods and nothing has worked. This has helped with her ear infections and red paws SO MUCH! Love it!

Made my dogs sick
Honestly, I wanted to like this food and I thought this was going to be fine for my dogs. I mainly bought it for my dog with allergies to chicken, grass and grains. I fed this to him for a few of months. He didn't seem to have any issue with at first. I then began feeding it to both of my dogs and my other (younger) dog developed a problem with it. The younger dog began throwing up within a few hours of eating. I quit feeding it to him while continuing to feed to my allergy dog since I still had a lot left in the large bag. A few days later, he also began to throw up within hours of eating. I simply went back to the other, slightly more expensive food I had been feeding them previously and they have had no further episodes of throwing up. I don't know if this is just something to do with my dogs, or with a certain lot(s) of the food, or if others have experienced anything similar, but I won't be buying it anymore. Certainly, this isn't anything I expected from a Canidae product, but don't want to make my pups sick.

Best Food out there
I have two dogs who both now have cancer. I was told by their vet that it was probably the food they were eating. I thought, no way because I buy them the expensive blue basics stuff which is supposed to be terrific, and they like it. After doing some research however, I learned the majority of dog foods on the market are cancerous to dogs. I searched through a lot of brands and then I found this one. The problem was that it is even more expensive than the blue, so when I found this "big bag" that met their dietary requirements of no chicken because one has a chicken allergy, I was so happy to try it because it is about the same price as the smaller bags. The dogs love it, I actually save some money on food for them now, and their health has improved since eating it.Update: My dogs have been eating this food for about 1 year now and their vet informs me they are both looking better health wise. I am so happy with this food and with the price of the big bag.

Cost effective alright....
I had high Hope's for this brand, and dog food. It had all the right qualities I was looking for. High quality, no grains, no preservatives, no artificial ingredients, no FISH OIL, price was VERY GOOD!!!But, when your dog literally starves himself, rather than eat this food, then you certainly SAVE money, making this product COST EFFECTIVE!!We have an 85lb Plott hound that's allergic to air it seems! I have tried just about everything including prescription Hills, just to have the same results. Although this food did seem to finally clear up some skin issues, he wouldn't touch it when introduced, for the first 3 days. He then only ate enough to get buy. He now still will only eat one meal of it a day. He just doesn't like it! This dog eats ANYTHING, screws, cigarettes, batteries, toys, sticks, paper...anything!! Yet, NOT this food. He still hasn't finished it quite yet, but it's close enough to order another bag, so I'm again out hunting for something he just might be able to eat without ANY issues!!***If anyone reads this that has suggestions...please leave comments. I would greatly appreciate them. He needs dog food that's grain free and fish oil free. That doesn't cost an arm and a leg. LOL Very hard to find!!

Production issue, do not buy this product!
We switched to this food a earlier this year for our 3 rescued dogs. The 1st few bag were fine but back in March we noticed that the food inside the bag did not look like it normally does, but sadly we did not noticed this until the bag was almost empty. We check all the bags now and we just opened one that delivered in late May and the whole bag is contaminated. Of course it's now over 30 days and amazon will not allow a return, so be careful with this food as something us not right with some of their batches.
