Keeps liquids both cold/hot and UV clean !
High value performance. I bought this relatively small ultraviolet thermos with traveling in mind and I use it every day and for playing tennis. It works and gives you a little more confidence that what you’re drinking is more pure than without it. I’m very happy with it. It’s in my car cupholder perfectly also.

Science, not an ‘idea’
Putting in my two cents here...UV-C light falls in the only spectrum of UV that can affect DNA replication. The light is enough to stop replication, not completely kill the bacteria. That’s enough for commercial use, both in the UVC wands, phone cleaners, and this water bottle. Why? Cells that do not replicate cannot infect. I do not understand the notion that the light ‘does not kill chemicals secreted by bacteria, which makes you sick’. Bacteria makes you sick. And if you disrupt the dna activity of everything in the bottle, there’s nothing alive that would be harmful. There is no perfect water. Don’t even get me started on how many CFU (coliform forming units- or fecal matter contamination) there is in tap water and bottled water. This water bottle comes pretty darn close to perfect. It doesn’t ‘filter’ so you will occasionally get a metallic taste from various sources- water with lower pH, the metal in water from older pipes. Should be fine as long as there’s not high lead levels. Every city has a water report that tells you the content, including if there’s fluoride (good for you), lead (not good for you). Also a stainless steel container is not one that ‘encourages’ biofilm activity- that would be plastic, which this is not. There are several reviews floating on the interweb from medical ppl doubting that it would work or that UVC light DOES work. As a general rule, don’t side with a camp that makes claims without evidence. Research. Science. “Trust me, I’m a doctor” is only a t-shirt slogan. A good doctor can explain to you why- with both the research done and clinical effects. I’ve never used that phrase and I don’t plan on it.Tl;dr —-The Larq water bottle is great for travelers, nomads, water purists like me. UVC light is proven to de-germ. It does not filter which is generally okay. A little bit of metal is fine, a lot of lead in your city water is not. Please stop upvoting unproven claims.

Too Heavy, but great system
The bottle is heavy and not easy to carry around, other than that the system is good. Just to heavy for everyday use, if you are thinking about buying one, consider the heaviness and consider looking for other systems first.Judi

Not High Quality
The media could not be loaded. A family member ordered one, it worked fine for about a month on the initial charge. One day, while initiating a normal cleaning cycle with the cap on the bottle, the light ring turned orange. I initially thought it was low on battery, so I charge it. It turned solid green relatively quickly, indicating a full charge. We attempted to use it again, and it worked fine. However, when attempting to use it again later the same day, the cap turned orange again. Without reading the manual, I thought it was indicating low battery again, so I plugged it in. It turned solid green after only a few minutes. I couldn't get it to work again, it was always the orange light, so we returned that one to Amazon and order a new one. This one was shipped directly from LARQ, costs $9.95 in shipping. I just received the new unit today, after reading the manual again, I realized the orange light meant the ambient light sensor thinks the cap is activated outside of the bottle, not a low charge. So the light sensor malfunctioned in a month. The new unit also has a tiny chip on the bottle. The product is based on a good idea, but it is manufactured in China, so quality is questionable. I just hope the new one will last more than a month. In hindsight, maybe I should not have ordered it again. I cannot fully recommend this product, based on it's questionable reliability and quality, expensive price, and it's made in China.Update: The bottle cap is not water tight. If you put ice cold water in the bottle, you can see condensation and water inside the bottle cap. This happened to 2 bottle caps. When this happens, the cleaning cycle will not activate, you get the orange light. I contacted LARQ support about this, they haven't responded in 7 days. Either I have bad luck or the bottle cap has a design flaw.

Niece loves this water bottle
We gave this as a birthday gift and our niece loves it. She said the size and color is perfect. Also appreciates how fresh the water tastes and plastic does not come into contact with the water.

The Must Have Bottle For Travel to Countries Without Potable Water
This is a life changing product. Before this product, in any country with questionable tap water, I always relied on bottled water. And while that works, it can sometimes be hard to find, is expensive and bad for the environment. With this bottle, even the most suspect water is drinkable. In Mexico, I tend to use the 60 second cycle. India, the 3 minute cycle, even though they say 60 seconds is enough. I have not tried this on river or lake water, but the independent testing shows it to be effective. Keep in mind, this will not alter the taste of the water (for the most part), but rather just kill off any harmful bacteria to make it drinkable.I also am in love with the design ascetic of the bottle itself. If I had one complaint, they need to update the micro usb port to USB-C. I don't regularly care micro USB cables these days - its a very outdated port and if you forget to pack the one that comes with the bottle, you will not be able to charge the cap if you need to.

Accidentally slung it off a cliff; still works.
The day i got it i put it on my back bumper and forgot about it, i took a turn and it went bouncing off the rocks. Still works but i don’t recommend filling directly from a stream (2 is 1, 1 is none) i recommend pairing it: i like to fill up water in a sawyer water bag or thin disposable water bottle with a coffee filter on the top, then push tgat through your sawyer and then into your larq.
