Our toddler LOVES this book!
Our son loves this book and we love reading it to him! We got the book when he was 15months. He started engaging with the pictures and pointing for us to tell him what something was. Now at 22months, he knows the names of all the characters, different flowers, animals, trees! He isn’t as interested in the books journal portion, but I foresee him getting into it as he gets older. The story is simple. The illustrations are beautiful. It feels like you are reading through a scientist’s field book. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! We just ordered another book by this author - Cycle City. Can’t wait to read it!

Toddler loves it!
My 2 year old wants to read this book as soon as she wakes up and multiple times throughout the day. The drawings are lovely and the book will grow well with her because of all the little wildlife labels.

Delightful book you can read 100 times or more with your kiddos!
This delightful book is full of adventure, fun, poetry and magic. My kids always ask me, "Which character do you want to be?!" Each character has her own way of being in the world and kids love this. They also love the non-fiction elements - getting to learn about plants and animals. The author is very skilled at delivering this non-fiction information in a gut-splitting, hilarious way. This book is so layered! You can read it 100 times and still find new aspects to enjoy. OUR FAMILY LOVES THE HIKE.

Nice book!
Great book but I would say to buy for children five and up. Bought for my granddaughter who loves the outdoors but she is 3 1/2 and a little too wordy for her. However, the pics are good!

Best Book Ever--All Ages!!
This is the best book I've ever purchased! I bought this book for my almost two years old granddaughter who is bored with simple board books, and it's now her favorite!! We have "hiked" through the house a dozen times now looking for the "cock-a-dee" (chickadee), blue jay, strawberry bushes, etc. This book is applicable and adaptable for age one through five at a minimum. So many projects/crafts and learning opportunities can be derived from this storyline and images!!

Great book to introduce the joys of hiking!
My two grandsons, ages 2 &3, love this book. I bought it to get ready for our vacation near Mt.. Rainier.. The story is minimal which allows us to talk about all the things that you can see on a hike. Having lived in Seattle for a number of years and introduced our children to the joys of hiking in the mountains, this book captures that experience wonderfully. There are pages from a character's sketch book at the end and I can imagine, in the future, having them color in the items they find on hikes.

Was just OK
Beautiful imagery and educational about nature, but doesn't have much of a story at all, and is rather hard to read To a little one so that they can stay engaged with it.
