So I have one of the older versions of these boxes that uses the metal key that inserts to open the box, and I'm pretty sure you have to utilize 300lbs/in force to get that little key to actually work. Usually it also requires slipping and jabbing yourself in the gut with the key due to the terrible old design. The new design is excellent with a plastic key that inserts and can even stay connected to the box so you don't lose it. Works without jabbing yourself in the gut or straining. Functionally perfect. Killed every rat within a 3 house radius of mine. Even my neighbors complimented me for taking out the pack. Excellent value and if I didn't already have enough, I would buy more of this design. But do be careful, these are so effective that the little critters will all be wiped out in one fell swoop and there will be no one around to eat what remains, so there may be some bodies to manually remove to avoid smells.

Worked all to keep rodenticide in place to "OFF" rats and mice eating my haystack - meant for the horses and not for the varmints!

This is a good box, but the latch is tricky. Might be a little difficult for some people, but - on the plus - it's hard for those who shouldn't be in it to gain access. - Note: Mash up an inch or 2 of "W4W Mosquito Repellent Coil" (available from Amazon), and put it on a tomato half with some baking soda. Put it in this box, and it will eliminate the problem without using dangerous rat poisons (which will kill other animals and birds if they get ahold of the rat after they eat the poison). -Rats will eat W4W Repellent, but ants will not touch it. The rats will consume the tomato (and the baking soda - which kills them). So, you wont get an ant problem while trying to eliminate a rat/mouse problem.

Good value. Serves its purpose. Has small metal rods inside to put the bait on. I use Contrac baits with it to send them to the afterlife. Has a small lock that keeps it shut safely.

When you take the trap out of the box, it is locked with a specialized key. There is no reasonable way to get it open without that key. For some reason that totally escapes me, BOTH THE KEY AND THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE LOCKED INSIDE THE BOX IN A PLASTIC ENVELOPE THAT IS TAPED IN PLACE. The first thing to do is to reach in through one of the small holes in the size, grab the plastic bag and yank it out. Then, read the instructions and use the key that matches the squiggles in the key area. It would really be nice if they just taped the plastic bag to the OUTSIDE of the trap. Otherwise 5 stars.

10 times faster to refill then the ones I replaced them with. Good buy.
