Works Very Well
The conversion took about 15 minutes and was very easy to do. I am very happy with the product. It comes with everything your need to hook up tp a standard BBQ type propane cylinder. On the inside of the generator case, all you have to do is take off three small air cleaner bolts and slide on the snorkel on the reinstall the air cleaner housing. The other thing you have to do inside is put in a gas line shutoff valve which is also included in the kit - simply slide the hose off the gas tank side and slide it onto the provided shutoff valve. Then slide the hose thats already connected to the provided shutoff onto the gas tank connector that you pulled from.Next you have to drill three holes in the removable plastic cover of the generator. Two are to mount the propane regulator that has the primer on it, ne is to allow rhe propane gas hose to enter the case. Assemble the hose connections and seal them with the provided thread sealant and thats it.A few things--the included instructions are not the best so and even though the install is simple the instructions are hard to follow in places. "Easy" installation is not so easy.
I was absolutely sold on the Motor Snorkel. So much so, that I bought 3 of them for my organization’s newly purchased Honda EU2000i generators. I live on an island in Washington State; we’re doing disaster planning. Having a fuel option was very appealing. Motor Snorkel’s website and posted comments give the impression that installation is easy and basically “plug ‘n play.” I found it was far from that.First, I’m not a mechanic. I know construction. Totally comfortable with plumbing, electrical, plaster, concrete, etc. Not so comfortable with things automotive; but with the assurance that installation of the Motor Snorkel was simple and straightforward, I forged ahead.First, I found the instruction manual to be poorly written and difficult to follow. There are a few pictures; they’re of little help. A posted online Honda installation video, while well produced, leaves out a number of important steps. So, basically, I was on my own. You begin the install by drilling holes in your generator housing … a leap of faith, to say the least, that this is going to turn out well. If you’re an engineer, or mechanic, or someone who really likes to get your head into it and figure stuff out yourself, this perhaps is no big deal. For me, if this first step goes FUBAR, I’m stuck with a holey generator. And heaven help me, if I ever need service work on the Honda, I’ll have some explaining to do. I raised the yellow Caution Flag.Second, the Motor Snorkel sent does not match the one shown in the instruction manual, or the one shown in the video. A newer version? A mistake in shipping? Upon further examination, it didn’t appear to fit the existing Honda carb. The red Stop Flag went up.I sent all 3 Motor Snorkels back (thank you, Amazon!). My plan now, hoping for the best and planning for the worst, is to buy extra bottles of Stabil for our emergency “what-if” generators.(A suggestion to US Carb: offer those who purchase Honda generators from Amazon, the option of drop shipping to your plant. You do the Motor Snorkel install, then deliver a completed, working, tested generator.)

Will they ever fix the vacuum leak problem?
Hey, that's a neat trick they did to clean up all the negative feedback that was being posted about this product. They deleted the old listing and relisted it as a new product with a clean slate of feedback. They also copy/pasted it into a dozen or more individual listings to spread it around some more rather than just one listing that covers all the possible applications. This trick also makes it impossible for the people like me who repeat their bad feedback to have their review show up as a "verified purchase" so it looks like I'm just out here trying to make trouble. Sneaky! Looks like I get to play the same game and copy/paste my bad review to a dozen listings so people will know to watch out for this product. So, what's so bad that I feel the need to give poor feedback? The snorkel design has a manufacturing flaw that guarantees your engine will have a vacuum leak between the air filter and the carburetor. The snorkel has a rectangular metal tube that transports propane through the gasket area. Since the snorkel is installed instead of a gasket, it must also perform the sealing function of the gasket. Unfortunately, the rubbery squishy part that would perform this function is thinner than the rectangular metal tube. The thickness of the metal tube is .161 thick, the gasket is only .130 thick. Since the metal is incompressible, there is a 100% chance that installing this snorkel will result in a vacuum leak allowing unfiltered air to flow through that .031 gap into the engine with all the lovely benefits associated with dirt ingestion.I'm attaching a few photos that show exactly what I'm talking about. You can clearly see that the gasket is not as thick as the metal tube. If they change the gasket thickness to eliminate the vacuum leak I'll be first in line to buy one. I love the idea of the snorkel, but will not install an obviously defective product.

Complete kit for generator propane conversion
This complete kit allowed me to convert my Honda EU2000i generator to propane without purchasing any other parts. The included instructions were clear and the kit was easy to install. I live in a foothill area with frequent power outages. Propane doesn't go bad like stored gasoline and it is easy to stockpile for emergency use. Also, propane doesn't foul carburetion like gas and may be more readily available during disasters. The generator fired right up when I first connected it to a propane cylinder. Two things you need to know: 1) You'll need to first run your generator on gas for a few hours to properly break it in. 2) It is advisable to utilize previously used propane tanks with this kit since pre-purged new tanks or filling station purging of new tanks don't adequately remove air that will make your generator run poorly. I use tanks with my BBQ grill and refill them a couple of times before rotating them over to generator use. I'm very happy with this purchase.
