i-Blason Apple iPad Mini / iPad Mini 3 / iPad Mini with Retina Display Case Auto Wake / Sleep Smart Case with Bonus Stylus (Black)

Like so many others I have tried a lot of cases for my mini. This one was just what I was looking for.Looks great, perfect faux leather for grip, suede-like interior, Protection-wise a big step up from my Apple vinyl smart cover yet light weight and when closed it is sleek. Smart cover functions perfectly for me and all for such a great price.It's easy to install the mini in and out of the case. This aspect is important to me since I use the mini on my airplane yoke (matte finish anti-glare film is a must) positioned in a RAM mount and I have little patients for tough to remove cases. I install/remove the Mini from this case via sliding in and out the left side. This is possible when the front cover is opened all the way and the back cover bent back a bit further. This frees the left corner tabs from the Mini allowing it to be slide in/out without stressing the device or cover. I should think that any other method would require bending the case corner tabs and in my mind would shorten the lifespan of the case.The hand strap located on the inside of the front cover is of course hidden when the cover is closed leaving an elegant streamlined looking case. When open, the strap makes for great fatigue-reduced reading. I've no problems with access to ports so far. I don't have issue with the closing clasp for the front cover. I feel it's just the right amount of stiffness to help convince me this won't become useless-loose over time. I don't use the pen so it is not attached.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the folio cover since it was only $5 for the black case. I figured if it was cheap and fell apart I wouldn't be out much money. The upgrade fixes the wake/sleep function and holes for the speaker. The hand band on the inside is a nice feature to let you hold the mini while walking or moving around. Easy to place in the case, yet once in, it is secure.1 star off for the locking clasp. It was too tight and hard to open and I worried about it damaging the edge of the screen protector I also got from i-Blason, so I tried to bend it back and the plastic in the clasp broke. So though it still locks the cover it is now too loose and the cover can jar open. Also needs something to lock the cover when folded back to keep the iPad from flapping around.Overall it's a nice design with easy foldout for standing iPad in different positions for viewing along with being thin and light weight.If it lasts a year without coming apart I will recommend it as a mid protection cover.I would buy a new one if they redesign the clasp.

I ordered this case instead of the mini version of the Speck folio case I had on my iPad 2. The leather version of the Speck case didn't come in a color I wanted, and it was more than twice the price of this one. Usually you get what you pay for, so I was hesitant, but since Amazon has a pretty good return policy I figured I'd give it a shot. I'm glad I did. It's sturdy with solid workmanship, it fits perfectly with no oddities in the fit, and doesn't add too much to the mini's profile (which is entirely the point of buying a mini, right?). Of course it isn't as light or thin as the Smart Cover, even with a back, but I don't like the mini Smart Covers. It's worth the slight difference IMO. The edge pops out easily for the angled viewing of videos, and the little handle on the inner flap is quite awesome for holding the iPad for extended periods as I do when I draw. It looks classy, which is hard to do in pretty colors. (As a side note, the purple is a little darker than it appears online, which I happen to like, but if you're seeking a more pastel purple this is more grape-colored.) All in all I am very satisfied with this product and I'm happy I went for it at less than half the cost of the case I was planning to get.

I've had this case for about a month and I really glad I went with it. It's great for the price, much better than you can buy at local store and much more durable. It's really lightweight, I didn't want to weigh down the ipad mini. The elastic band on the inside is great for carrying around the ipad without having to have your fingers on the screen. It's also snug so when walking around it doesn't budge on my hand. The stylus that comes with it is great, I like having it right there and not have to go searching for it.When you first get it, it does have a pretty strong smell. Pretty stinky. After a few days though the smell wears off so it's not an issue.The only other downside is that when you want to use the stand, you have to take the bottom two corners of the ipad out in order to make it stand. Not a huge downside but it'd be easier if you didn't have to do it. But like I said, for the price it's a great and if I had to choose again, I'd get it again.

I had a case like this ever since I bought my iPad mini years ago. I finally needed to replace it and opted for a different model, one that would rotate around so it could stand vertically. Unfortunately, that case did not function as I expected it to. I returned it and bought the one I knew and loved. It standes up only horizontally, but is very stable in both positions. It closes and locks with a snap-in tab. It turns the ipad off when I close it, and turns it on again when I open it.The texture is very leather-like, soft and non slippery so I always feel I have a good grip on it. The elastic handle is useful when reading in bed. I like the new addition of an elastic loop and the stylus that comes with it. It's easy to take my ipad out of the case when I want to use my gooseneck holder.
