You can do this repair. bolts with break-off heads
Mine did not click when I turned the key off. So it was almost impossible to turn car on. It was because the steering lock mechanism was jamming. This part comes with new steering lock and new electrical switch inside it. Make a small chisel and gradually unscrew the 2 bolts that had breakaway heads so no tool can remove them. They are on top -look for round holes in the plastic. Pull electrical connectors down off the bottom of switch to unplug unit. Wiggle and pull the switch down off the steering column. Unplug security black plastic ring. Now switch is off the. column. Study the tiny wiring pieces and switch them over to the new part. Now its easy to get the key tumblers out. Turn the old switch to the on position. Look for the little tiny hole right next to the key. I made a tool. I used an old small spring and made it into a pin about an inch long. A heavy paper clip might work too. Push it in the tiny hole and the tumbler plus plastic security ring come right out. Then push those pieces with no tool needed into the new metal switch. Next I grinded 2 grooves in the 2 screws round heads with a cutoff wheel. Then I reinstalled unit to column with a flat blade screwdriver. Plug in the security ring. Carefully push the plastic wiring unit up onto the plugs. It will snap in when you have it all lined up perfectly. Be patient here. Test it then put dhroud back on.

1st one faulty / Prompt replacement, works well
*Update* Installed and worked well. Electronic part of switch failed the next day. Engine would start then shut off after releasing key from start/crank position. Requested a replacement which arrived in a couple days. A month later and replacement is working fine. Cost difference vs OEM is significant. $20 vs $275 from dealer. Takes about an hour to replace if your handy. Original issue - key hard to turn, difficult to move to off position and shut off engine and key getting locked in the switch while engine running. *** Update #2 *** Little over a year later. Working perfectly
