Laika is worth it.
Not Laika's best film, but still one of the best animated films of the year, Laika is worth it.

The Road to Shangri-La
“Missing Link” Distributed by United Artists Releasing, 95 Minutes, Rated PG, Released April 12, 2019:Set in the early twentieth century, in the animated “Missing Link” the intrepid but insufferably obtuse adventurer Sir Lionel Frost, as a means of gaining membership in an exclusive London-based society of explorers, travels to the wilderness of America’s Pacific Northwest to hunt and capture the mythical creature known as Sasquatch.Frost is surprised to learn the legendary beast is actually an intelligent and fairly sophisticated individualist, tormented by loneliness and hoping to be reunited with his long-lost Himalayan cousins, the Yeti. In reluctant collaboration with Frost’s former girlfriend, a spirited adventurer in her own right, the team sets off for Asia to locate the Yeti and reunite the melancholy Sasquatch with his distant relatives.Wonderfully endearing and surprisingly funny, “Missing Link” resembles nothing so much as the very best of the comic “Road” collaborations of the 1940s between Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, and Dorothy Lamour, a sort of cartoon-based “The Road to Shangri-La.”Enhanced by intricate and colorful animation, “Missing Link” also benefits strongly from the voice characterizations of Hugh Jackman as Frost, Zoe Saldana as former paramour Adelina Fortnight, and comic Zach Galifianakis as Sasquatch, also variously known as Mister Link and Susan (don’t ask).Produced by Laika Studios, the stop-motion animation company known for “Coraline,” “ParaNorman,” and “Kubo and the Two Strings,” “Missing Link” is earning strong reviews from the critics, including an approval rating of 89% from Rotten Tomatoes and 68% from Metacritic.Released to 3314 theaters across North America, “Missing Link” is unfortunately not faring well at the box office, earning only $5.8 million during its opening weekend, barely enough to crack the Box Office Mojo Top Ten.“Missing Link” is rated PG for sequences of action and peril, and some mild rude humor.

Do not purchase to watch in the U.S.A
This is not a review for the movie itself. If you live in the United States. This is a region 2 formatted disk. The United States is a region 1 format, meaning this blue-ray will not play in most U.S. blue-ray players. The digital download offer is for the UK only and cannot be downloaded in the United States. This IS NOT SPECIFIED IN THE DESCRIPTION. If you live in the United States be aware that you may not be able to play the movie.

Will not work!
Ordered 2 copies of this for Christmas gifts for Grandkids. Information wasn't put up about the region crap when I ordered....So disappointed...Will eat my loss because sending back for credit will be more than the value of movies.. This is just ridiculous!

What has happened to us?
What has happened to us? I am a child of the 80s and animations or cartoons I had watched when I was a kid, I remember for the emotions, how it made me feel, not for the quality of the picture, 3D or any other technicality (technology 20-30 years ago was nothing like now:)I have seen this film in a cinema with my kids and now I have bought the DVD and I have watched it with my kids again on a 4K TV and colours, picture and depth are great and neither I nor my kids have any complaints.Kids are the only ones that matter in this review and my kids love this film, for the story, for the humour, for the fun, for the lessons that it comes with and guess what they did not complain about the 2D or 3D or anything like that. Just enjoyed a great story and a mastercraft of stop motion animation. I love it too and hope they will make a second.I hope you like my review and if you found it useful please hit ‘Helpful’. it will make my day:)XX

Brilliant take on the missing link
Bought 1 of these when it 1st came out, for my daughter. Saw it on TV a few wks ago and thought I must get it. Such a good film, very entertaining, the sort you can watch again and again and not get fed up with it. Great for oldies and youngsters.

A message to be learned.
Bought for my grandchildren to watch when on a sleepover. To be honest although funny in places it was more a film of self discovery, without spoiling the plot, it wasn't the missing link finding his roots it was about our "hero" finding himself. If you ignore the message and watch it as an animation it's not had for youngster's.

Cartoon.
Never heard of this dvd before, was very surprised on the story and quality of the colours. Would recommend this to anyone who likes a good story on cartoon.

Enjoyable
I liked the film - animation was extremely well done; actors excellent and plot great. Sadly, the character of the Missing Link was extremely irritating - just couldn't warm to him. Even so, very entertaining and worth a watch.
