Anybody willing to donate money to replace this piece of s***t with a DJI to monitor mangroves on a remote pacific island?
Ok, I wanted to be optimistic about this drone after reading all the negative reviews, I was so, so wrong. I purchased it for the purposes of using it for mangrove and shoreline erosion monitoring as part of grant funding I secured for the org I am volunteering with (I've used professional drones before for monitoring and am not a novice flyer). It had the best specs within the limited funds we had, but if we had the money I would definitely have bought a DJI. Took it for a few test runs, apart from a very annoying calibration process where the manual and Youtube videos disagree, all seemed fine. So, gathered the troops to teach them how to fly it and how to take the right photos for monitoring; calibrated properly, app/remote/drone linked up (app is terrible by the way), took off, got to about 8m in the air and the drone just took off flying sideways, could not control it at all and it went into a local ladies breadfruit tree where it proceeded to cover itself in breadfruit sap (after the prop guards broke), we were less than 30m away so it should not have been a signal problem. On a positive note, it still flies after a pretty hard hit and changing the props, but it poses a serious hazard to public safety and after a few VERY conservative flights in which we lost control 30% of the time we won't be using it again. Don't be optimistic, pay the extra $100 for a DJI Phantom 3 if you're not in the market for the more expensive drones. There's a heck of a lot less chance of accidentally killing someone with DJI products.

DO NOT BUY THIS DRONE! Loses control easily, very dangerous
I am an experienced drone operator. That being said, I have handled little toy drones much better than the Muvi Drone. I bought this for my father last year, and he always complained that he could never properly calibrate it. When I finally looked into it, I realized that the instructions for calibration in the manual were completely wrong. Thankfully, they provide a YouTube video with the proper way to calibrate it. After finally getting he solid green light signifying that calibration was complete, I turned on GPS mode, moved the camera to ensure connection, and took flight. The only problem that occurred from this was that it took flight sideways and was uncontrollable. When I finally shut the motors off, I recharged the batteries and then recalibrated the drone, making sure there weren't any phones, keys, or anything else that could interfere with the calibration process. Again, I got the solid green light signifying calibration was complete, and took flight again with my GPS on. Almost the same result, but I was able to partially control it. Suddenly, when the drone was approximately 10 feet from the ground, it lost connection with the controller. The camera still worked perfectly fine, but the drone decided that it wanted to be a space ship. It continued ascending in altitude, I could not control it whatsoever, and I could see it drifting towards the road at such a high altitude. Finally, before it lost total connection and caused a fatal accident, I shut the motors off. The drone took a very long plunge, luckily the landing was softened by bushes. However, the damage was done, I know I'll never get my money back, and I also know that I will never again buy or recommend this product to anyone. DO NOT BUY THIS DRONE! From the reviews that I have read on here and on other sites, it is a gamble as to whether or not your drone will function properly.

which was very easy due to the LED markings
I decided to purchase 2 of these and conduct some aggressive tests on model 1. This is a very stable drone. I actually conducted my first flight at night, which was very easy due to the LED markings. GPS calibration is easy and if you follow the YouTube steps, you'll be perfectly fine. The only vague and confusing User Guide areas are regarding connectivity with the range extender. The manual states to connect to the camera, when in fact you should connect your phone's wifi to the actual extender, not the camera. The extender and camera are already paired and if you try to connect to the camera..... Your range extender is useless, since it is not connected to your actual device (phone). The other flaw, is during calibration - nose should be upwards, not downwards. You'll notice in the video, calibration is done upwards. My advice: "Read the entire manual". The recovery feature works like a charm. I flew as far as I could out of range and bam!, it came back home safely each and every time. However, make sure you're landing spot is clear above, the drone won't know if there are any trees above you, so calibrate your GPS spot in a clear area. I experienced some crashes with this little guy, and the propellers are amazingly durable. However, these guards are not very durable. I may actually customize my own with a light aluminum or carbon material. Video could be a bit more stable, but still very very nice! Make sure you have a good network signal on your phone, otherwise you may get image drops every couple seconds on the app. And again, pair with the range extender, not the cam. The x-drone does very well in windy conditions with the GPS toggle feature. I recommend this product, especially for what you get at this price. That's why I bought 2. If you do the math; new props, new guards, extra battery... you're already close to $300 dollars. For a few more dollars, you have a backup drone ; ) Have fun and feel free to ask me any questions regarding this product directly.

I've had this for a couple of months now and was only able to fly it for the first time yesterday with my father-in-law. I was quite nervous but there was no need. Never flown anything using a remote before and this was simplicity itself. It's much bigger than you think it is going to be when it arrives well packed in a box. Ready to fly in a couple of minutes with good instructions. Videos instructing you how to set up and fly also on you tube I left in GPS mode and it hovers where you leave it in the air until you move it again. Much better for beginners. One thing to say, I hadn't checked my Wi-Fi booster was not charged so couldn't use my iPhone for my first flight. I put the video on and took a risk with the shots. I moved the camera to different angles and put the drone high in the air. All I can say is WOW! Clear video and what a view!!!!! If I had time today would take it back to my large field as the Great North Run is on today and I'm sure I'd have gotten some great shots. Can't wait to use it closer to home as I live right next to the River Tyne!!!!!!!!! Last tip! The price of this item fluctuates. It's £599 today. I bought it when it was priced at £257. I've been very lucky as it's never returned to that price since. I also shopped around and got two additional batteries for less than £100 for them both. £100 each here and that price doesn't fluctuate. Totally recommend when the price fluctuates on £400 or less. You'll then get a real bargain like me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This has been the worst online purchase I've ever experienced. Not only did the first product not work at all due to a faulty battery but when I finally was able to send it back and have it replaced (as it was a birthday present for my father that lives out of town) the second drone DIDNT work either!!! By the time I was able to get it back from my parents ( it cost 1/3 of the product price to ship home so I had to make my own plans) it was too late to return it. I have never been so disappointed. It has been a head ache from day one. And now I'm hundreds of dollars in the hole. Do not buy this product. If I could give zero stars I would. Zero product and even less $.
