Interesting story
This is a sad true mystery story. So much heartache could have been avoided. The writer is good but not quite in the league of Ann Rule but still I recommend it if you like a good mystery.

good book. cycle of abuse/psychopathy.
husband and lover/girlfriend killed wife.this book is a good lesson in two ways: 1 - do not keep trying to make a volatile relationship with an abusive/controlling person work, even if you have kids. 2 - permanently leave anyone who is abusing your kids, no matter what.the wife was a young woman who had been involved in an on/off, volatile relationship with her boyfriend/husband since she was 16. the relationship never worked. it was full of fights both verbal and physical. her family advised her to just leave him permanently. when she had an opportunity to marry another man who treated her and her children well and could provided economic security, she still went back to the loser.both her boyfriend/husband and his lover/girlfriend had been seriously abused as children. he had been beaten badly by one of his mother's husbands, and she had been sexually abused by her father or stepfather. in his case, the mother stayed for years. no matter how poor you are, get out. you're better off running to a women's shelter or the salvation army than having someone possibly turn your kids into adult psychopaths or, at least, losers.in her case, her father or stepfather went to prison for sexually abusing her sister. her mother turned him in and did believe that he was guilty. incredibly, her mother re-married him when he got out of prison and claimed that he had changed. i don't know what to say about a mother like that. she was raised in a bad environment.a lot of people simply should not have kids, or should not have them before the age of 25 and lots of therapy and hard work for financial stability. of course, those are the people who have the most kids and have them earliest. the lover/girlfriend had 3 kids by various men and was 8 months pregnant when she helped to kill the wife. makes you sympathize with the eugenics people, except the modern version would be based on family dysfunction/psychopathy instead of genetics.

Great Read
The author did an excellent job laying out the facts of the case. Many times, I felt as if I was sitting inside of the court room watching. At one point, it makes you think about the facts and how you would have cast your own vote as a juror.

Iโm running out of things to say
About how wonderful William Phelps books are, I mean how many ways can you say a book is so awesome that the only reason you donโt hate turning that last page, is knowing that you have more books of his on kindle lined up ready and waiting to go ! I canโt even recall the last time after reading one book by a new author I was so in love that I immediately went and bought as many more books of his I could afford ... I mean who needs food .. right ? I also canโt recall one other author at all, and I mean not a single one, who bothered to thank his/her readers in each book, to me that show a level of respect to the readers/fans & I always think respect should be mirrored, so to Mr Phelps, thank you, for not just writing great books that while showing a side of society or just human nature most of us will never hopefully come across they also show a deep level of caring and regard for those hurt by each tragic circumstance, be it the victims, their family, friends, and also some even of the perpetrators, for some of them itโs perhaps the first time theyโve ever experienced that kindness from someone else. To those reading this rather than one of his books ... what are you waiting for ?

Over long but a good book
I think the content of the book could have been done in a whole lot fewer chapters. It certainly was thorough but a quicker read would have been appreciated. Also reading on Kindle there are no pictures which I don't like I had to go to the internet to find pictures of the players. But if you got the time the book is good.

Heartbreaking Domestic violence turned deadly again!!
This was a fascinating terrible story of troubled family lives as children and equally troubled lives as adults for all 3 involved..

Interesting read.
This book keeps you interested. It doesn't drag out the trial. It summarizes parts of the trial and doesn't repeat when it isn't needed.

Another Winning True Crime
And here we have another detailed, intriguing, and fantastically written true crime novel from one of my favorites, M. William Phelps. He and Anne Rule are my two favorite true crime authors and I've read nearly all of their books. I definitely recommend them including this one!

Excellent writing about a very sad subject
As usual Mr Phellps wrote wonderfully however I wish writers would learn that "people SHAKE their heads meaning NO" and they NOD their heads meaning YES. Mixing these two up is confusing to the reader
