great textbook! it clearly describes the theoretical orientations of therapy and how they apply to working with couples. they also provide case examples throughout the book which is helpful as well. definitely recommend for any therapist who works with couples

This textbook is a very comprehensive look at couple counseling theories and techniques. The author does a wonderful job of citing diverse articles and addressing limitations. The content is well-written, albeit a little wordy, but the author thoroughly explains every bit of material. However, DO NOT BUY THIS ON KINDLE DIGITAL DOWNLOAD OMG. I have seen the hardcopy of the book and it looks great. However, I downloaded a rental of this and I feel like I am reading a never-ending book. The display on other textbooks that I have digitally rented mimics the layout of the corresponding hardcopy. This digital download ONLY SHOWS YOU TWO PARAGRAPHS AT A TIME and I could not be more frustrated trying to outline a 50 page chapter a paragraph at a time. If you are someone who has centuries to kill then by all means download this text. My eyes are literally burning in my head after trying to get through chapter 21. Seriously. This digital format is why Visine & blue-light-blocking glasses were invented. If you prefer to read at your normal pace then I strongly advise you buy the hardcopy.

The book is very dry and hard to get through. But got here on time and does the job it's supposed to do.
