Takes a lot of effort
I purchased this, because I eat an apple pretty much everyday and sometimes more than one. I also purchased it, because of the awesome reviews it had. I will say that I was disappointed. The blades are not very sharp and it takes a lot of effort/pressure/leverage to push down on it to actually get it to slice the apple. It also does not cut all the way through the apple, most of these slicers don't and the apple is left hanging by a small piece that you have to push the rest of the way through. This one however, leaves a much larger area uncut that you have to push through, which poses a danger for cutting yourself (even though the blades are a bit dull they still do slice and even butter knives can be dangerous). I purchased this, because I was sick of slicing apples everyday and feeling like some got wasted around the core and to make the process easier and I feel it is still a bit tough. I was struggling one day and even asked my boyfriend (quite a strong guy for help, not that I'm a wimp, but he's taller and stronger with more leverage) and he even had to put some force into it. Perhaps I got a dud and it's just a fluke, because all the reviews I read before purchasing were great.

Too small and did not last too long.
I bought this some years ago, and it lasted a while before it broke.I have now moved on to a different model. My main gripes with this one:(1) It's too small to cut larger apples.(2) It did not last as long as it should have.(3) There are apple slicers that look more elegant.I don't think it's an awful product; it was ok given the price, but I would not buy it again.

Like some other reviewers
Like some other reviewers, I looked upon this as a single use 'gadget'. That said, my son and I are very fond of apple and pear slices and this is the answer. It can accommodate larger apples easily. It does require some effort to push down on the slicer, but after some tries, no problems. Better than getting out the knife and making several slices to get the same result. If your plate is big enough, there is no need for a cutting board if you are having just a snack rather than chopping several for a pie. I like the large, no slip handles. My son (teenager) loves to use it . I don't think I would allow a very young child to use it because it is sharp and could slip.It does wash easily in the dishwasher. I cannot say anything about longevity, but so far so good. I recommend for anyone who is looking for healthier eating and snacking for themselves or their family.

Works Great!
Got this to make dried apple slices for one of our dogs (allergic to grains). Works great, though it can take a hard shove to get it started and juicy apples can spray just a little. Cuts a good size for human snacking; for the dog I cut each slice in half. Works best if you try to line up the core perpendiclar to the countertop, which can mean tipping the apple up a little. And you may have to do a little paring if the apple is twisted or shaped funny. Sill, it's a nice little device and saves lots of time.

A Safety Hazard and Waste of Money
My corer did exactly the same thing you see in these photos from other reviewers. The entire blade set got stuck halfway through an apple and I was left standing in shock holding on to the handles and staring at the hole that was left. Those blades are sharp and I cringe to think of what a child would do to remedy the situation if left unattended and this happened. Very unsafe and a waste of money.

Awesome until it broke
I’ve had this device for four years and all of a sudden one of the handles snapped. It’s still usable but only with one handle.I’d probably go with another maker next one I purchase.

i love it
This gadget is amazing!! It actually cuts my apple into slices. The only hard thing about it is that you have to put a lot of pressure in order for it to work. The metal on it slices perfectly without any problems. It also cuts the middle so you won't have any seeds in any of your apple slices. I am very happy with this. The handle on the side helps you put more pressure so you can easily cut the apple. The grip on the side is soft so it won't hurt your hands.

Great cutter!
I used to have one of these type apple corers. After watching my husband cut up apples for my son's lunch nightly I decided to order one. I showed it to my husband and he just laughed. I proceeded to show him how it worked. He was amazed....and shocked how quickly I could cut an apple and how nicely it looked. I notice he is now using it nightly and no longer laughing. We eat a lot more apples since purchasing this as it is so easy to core and slice them.
