Taste of the WildCanyon River Grain-Free Dry Cat Food With Trout & Smoke-Flavored Salmon 5lb

We've found taste of the wild to be the best value for the quality of the ingredients.My vet had my 12 lb cat on Science Diet W/D for weight loss her ENTIRE LIFE! Ten years she ate that junk, and I was none the wiser. Happily shelling out big buck for grains and filler on my vets orders. My cat never lost an ounce, despite the fact that she ate less than the recommended amount for a 10-lb cat because she completely hated the food. Also, as a friend pointed out to me when she watched the cat, she was generating a ridiculous amount of poop. (So not absorbing many nutrients.)A year ago, when my German Shepherd Puppy was struggling with allergies, I began researching dog nutrition and better dog food brands. As I discovered how horrible Hill's (Science Diet) is for dogs, I realized how horrible it also is for my poor cat. It is harder to find a good analysis for cat food than for dog food, but I moved her over to TOTW based on the premise that a company who values good nutrition in their dog line would likely do the same in their cat line.After moving to TOTW, my cat LOVES her new food. She loves that we can change the flavor and variety. I was afraid she would gorge herself but she still eats less than the recommended amount. She is slightly more energetic and lost one pound. (She's still a bit over weight, but at least she's happy.) She poops about half as much, even though she eats the same amount of food. She also drinks less water and pees less often. (But no sign of bladder issues before or after the change. I think the W/D was dehydrating her.) Her coat is softer, shinier, and drops less dander. That may be in part because the weight loss makes it easier for her to clean herself.She transitioned seamlessly, and we've never had any illness or behavioral issues in the year that she's been eating it. We travel full time now, and it's wonderful how readily available TOTW is across the country. It's at most of the big box feed stores, like Rural King, Tractor Supply, and Orchelins. Of course, we prefer the convenience of having it delivered to our door. Thanks Amazon!We may eventually decide to move her to Acana, which has a higher meat to veggie ratio, but it is significantly more expensive. TOTW is an awesome balance of price versus quality.

I’ve been feeding our Bengals TASTE OF THE WILD for many years. This is the first time I’ve purchased this flavor. As soon as I filled the automatic feeder with this flavor our cat went right for it. I’m never disappointed with the quality of this product!

Adopted a 2 ur old cat from an out of area cat rescue that used this brand of crunchy catfood. Couldn't find it in any local pet stores in my large city so finally ordered off Amazon. My cat wasn't wild about the other crunchy food I fed her at first but really loves Taste of Wild. Actually my older cat lives it better than her previous crunchies. It's important to have crunchies for cats for their dental health, as well as wet food for their liquid intake, and now I feel my cats are getting a good, nutritious balance of both.

Smells like fish but my kittens love it! I used the same brand for my dog when he was a puppy so I really trust!

Our kitties love this product. This company makes excellent dry food.

I've never used this product before and now will have to wait again. The product was delivered in a soft package which was not ripped or damaged upon delivery, however upon opening the package, the product package was ripped from top to bottom. I was sent a damaged package! I will not use the dry food since I am uncomfortable what might have happed with the product prior to sending it.

Got this food in a different flavor a month ago. My cats are very picky and at first there was no interest. So I rushed to get Trout and Salmon flavor as I really wanted them to switch to something healthy. Then in a day or so, since I wasn't giving them their regular food, I saw one of them nibbling from the plate. One cat had a soft stool. I kept giving them their favorite can food at the same time as I saw one cat started loosing weight. The new dry food was available all the time and I saw that its amount in the bowl was SLOWLY diminishing. After a month of them consuming this dry food (even though in small amounts as they never got super excited about it) I noticed that their skin condition improved and their dull coats became beautiful and shiny.The new flavor (Trout and Salmon) didn't make them super excited either. But since they prefer dry food and have no other choice they eat it. I'm giving this product 4 stars. Even though cats got shiny coats, this food is a bit expensive and none of my 3 cats really got very excited about either of 2 available flavors.

I bought this brand, 2 flavors to try on 3 of my 4 kitties because 14lb Batman is always stealing our delicate little kitties kidney/urinary food from her, and she is not allowed regular cat food because it causes kidney stones. If I let him eat her food, it has something missing/added that's bad for him as well. They got tired of their other grain-free food. So- we tried this. I set out a taste test with the 2 different foods and 2 of the kitties favored the Canyon food, and the 3rd cat favored the Rocky version. So far so good, but I did see the other reviews on problems so I'll keep an eye out. Sadly, I didn't see that until I came to review. I really wanted a food assembled in the US.
