Mrs. Howard, Room by Room: The Essentials of Decorating with Southern Style

This book did not inspire me, but perhaps it is just a difference in taste. I prefer a more fresh, casual style with natural materials, texture and visual interest. "Room by Room" is filled with formal, and in my opinion, over-designed rooms. I realize books such as this are meant to be inspirational, but I had trouble moving past what I consider unattractive and, in some cases, boring decor. If you love mono- and di-chromatic color schemes, this book may appeal to you (note the cover photo - it is a preview of the interior). To give credit where credit is due, Mrs. Howard has achieved a well-written and organized book that contains useful information, no matter your taste.

A guide to decorating room by room. Not only is it fillled with beautiful photography, but this book by Pheobe Howard also gives site specific details like tile size, how to wisely spend your budget and square footage. I actually read the entire book, captions and all.The pallet of blue and white is most common but also shown are layered neutrals and vibrant pinks and greens.It is a book you will reference for years as you build your interiors.

Fantastic design book. Phoebe Howard creates beautiful, but unpretentious, spaces. The photos in the book are large, so the details are easy to see.

Very basic interior design without much personality. It's good for someone who is just learning about interior design. The rooms shown were more "display" vs. insightful tips on creating a warm and welcoming living space.

Very nice book. Some good ideas for today's decorating but not the end all book.

Not as good as some others that I have purchased

I spent hours reading this book and looking at the beautiful pictures. Absolutely LOVED IT!!!!

This book is just beautiful. For anyone that just loves to look at lovely interiors this book will not disappoint.The book covers every room in the house.Even though my home is not the size of the homes in the book nevertheless you still come away with lovely ideas no matter the size.A truely lovely book Phoebe Howard your book brought me sunshine on a grey rainy day.

Really comprehensive book with great photos

Great stuff. Just a tiny bit lacking in patina! Bring on the living!

Lovely book that includes a lot of tips of how to approach decorating a room. It also shows how to incorporate sophistication into the design in a very simple way. Makes for a terrific coffee table book which will have you referencing it frequently.
