Protective and gives a sharp look to functional travel cases.
These are chrome plated steel corner reinforcements for wooden tool boxes and travel cases. Aside from their protective function, they dress up the look of the cases and for a very good price. They came with flat head screws but I would have preferred pan head screws.

These are nice Stainless steel corners to reinforce your box and protect the corners.
I used these corners to cover the corners of my electric bass case that was showing signs of wear. they even supplied screws. Only problem was the holes for the flat head screws were not countersunk so the edge of the screw head was proud (raised) above the top of the brackets. I went ahead and countersunk all the holes, so now the screws sit flush as they should. I took off one star for having to countersink all those holes.

Nice but screws won't flush mount
Made my own flight case for gear and these are protecting its corners. They work fine for that but the countersunk screws provided (actually no countersunk screws) will not go flat to the surface because there's no recess on the corner protectors flat areas for the screws to go into. As such the screw edge protrudes a bit above the surface and can catch on things. But the corners of my case are protected.
