Vortex Bimini Tops are made with 600 denier marine grade polyester. It is double polyurethane coated on the bottom, or down side, as well as UV protected and sealed. Polyester and acrylic are very similar for bimini tops. Polyester has a very rich color and holds up to UV exposure very well. Vortex Bimini Tops are simply the best option out there due to the quality, warranty, and incredible value. As far as the support system/framework, it is made with 1" round tube anodized aluminum. Anodizing is just a process that increases corrosion resistance and wear resistance of a metal. Aluminum is the best metal for the framework of a bimini top. Then, it is treated to make it even better. The fittings and hardware are all heavy duty nylon and stainless steel(mounting screws hooks, and eye straps). Instructions are included with the Vortex Bimini Top. Installation is very easy for anyone with even moderate handyman type skills. It is a very easy 2 person job, with very very basic hand tools. A cordless drill, tapemeasure, screwdriver, pencil, etc. It is a 1 to 2 hour job...maybe a little less with a helper. Specifics for this top: Color of fabric: Burgundy Length of top: 8' Width: easily fits width between mount points of 91-96" Height: 54" (when mounted to top of rails/gunwales, which averages 18-24" high), makes for nice overall height from boat floor of 6 to 6 1/2 ft high. 5 year warranty on defects in materials, both for frame and for fabric.

The product is a great price and seems to be of good quality. However, the written instructions leave a lot to the imagination. We had to find a YouTube video to get it right.

You get what you pay for
This is a lightweight top. It looks like it will work fine if you don't go boating every week and you can keep your pontoon in a building or covered when you are not boating. The instructions are very vague but it is not difficult to put together if you use your head. The screw driver works but its a lot easier with a drill and driver. You will definitely need a drill. It's not fancy but doesn't look too bad. The main pole could have been a little sturdier. The nuts for the thumb screws don't fit into the brackets snug so you will need to be careful not to lose them when you take the poles out of the brackets. Not sure if it will stand up in a stiff wind. I bought this one because I didn't pay much for the boat so I didn't want a top that cost more than my boat. Shipping was very prompt.

When using the directions just make sure you have the "front" matched to the folding side of the pipes. The rest is candy! It took my wife and I an hour for assembly and installation. What a great product for the price! Everything comes with the kit. Even the screwdriver. All that is required is a pilot drill and tape measure. I would highly recommend this product. The overall quality of the piping and fittings is good, the mount brackets are plastic but you could always purchase stainless and install them later. Also measure everything carefully to insure proper fit. One happy customer!!

Great inexpensive top
Replaced a very expensive top that had been destoryed in a wind storm. The first cost over $400.00. This top is just as nice and made just as well. Wished I had not wasted money on the first one.
