exactly as described, fast delivery
This is the best canned pulpo I've had. Spent a month in Portugal and this is as good as anything we had. Plus their packaging is the best of anything purchased on Amazon. Thank You.

Simply Delicious
This is the best octopus outside of a sushi bar I have ever had. Tender, succulent, and buttery. Everything you could ever want octopus to taste like, and not even remotely overpowered by the subtle olive oil. Will definitely be buying again!

A Spanish Cephalopod of Zest, Marred by Imperial Price
In the briny aristocracy of tinned sea creatures, the Matiz Pulpo Wild-Caught Spanish Octopus reigns as a Mediterranean grandee, ensconced in olive oil like a sybarite in scented repose. Wrested from some rocky Iberian littoral and sealed in its metallic sarcophagus, this cephalopod arrives bearing flecks of seasoning—zesty condiments that lend a theatrical flourish to its maritime pedigree. The chunks, neither stingy nor grotesque, strike a commendable balance of proportion, their flesh offering a morsel fit for adventurous mandibles. Yet the texture, while spared the petrochemical rubberiness of lesser tinned kin, carries the faint resistance of a creature once devoted to mangling crustaceans, approximating tenderness with half-hearted diligence. For all its aquatic virtues, the price exacted by these Spanish merchants ascends with a hubris that would make a Roman emperor blanch, clutching his purse at such splendid larceny—a tariff more suited to caviar than a denizen of Iberian piers.

Tasty and nutritious!
I bought 5 cans of these to try out. I like canned seafood (tuna, salmon, anchovies) but had never tried canned octopus before. At first, I was a little skittish about opening the cans; I had tried non-canned octopus twice before but didn't really love it. These cans, however, are delicious! The octopus is meaty and hearty, with a great flavor. It reminds me of other canned seafood but with a better flavor. I find tuna really bland. I've gotten past my initial squeamishness and now I find myself wanting to keep them stocked in my cupboard all the time! I have eaten them both heated and straight from the can; you can easily substitute a can of these for any recipe calling for a can of tuna. The most recent recipe I made was a greek salad with these instead of tuna. Give these a whirl and see f you enjoy the variety and health benefits of octopus in your diet. I know I now do!

Excellent Flavor and Texture
This product is from Spain harvested from Atlantic ocean waters. The flavor is delicate (not fishy) and cute tender. Excellent way to dress up an afternoon Mediterranean salad. Highly recommended.

Matiz Pulpo wild caught octopus
While not as great as fresh, it's still really good. Now that I'm not on a coast that is peppered with fresh octopus, I get the best I can. Make a WOW appetizer for a party or octopus rice for yourself. It's far too expensive to treat everyone, a lot! But I do love this octopus, the ease of serving straight from the can AND it's worth every penny!

missing GALICIA
Galicia is pulpo heaven, and I miss travels there and tasting the wonderful ways in which the Galegos prepare pulpo. I also understand that the population of pulpo off the shores of Galicia is now under threat due to climate change. So, companeros, if you cannot travel to Galicia during the pandemic, enjoy these lovely tins of octopus. The "chunks"are delectable and the olive oil is of good quality. I like to saute the octopus chunks in their own olive oil with grated garlic, flakes of red pepper, and Spanish smoked paprika. Then, you can toss this delightful mix over lentils, salad greens, or pasta of your choice. Delicious. My one reservation--each 4 oz tin only packs enough octopus for one serving. So, this brand is "un poco caro" ..... so balance quality with price... así es la vida
