Excellent budget filter. I have well water that is decent quality. I filter the entire house usage through this just to get out the little bit of iron in our supply. Works great. Water tests are good after filter. Change the filter every sixty days or so. I wouldn’t rely on this filter if our water was poor quality, very hard or had heavy minerals and iron. Lightweight filter only.

I had previously installed a much smaller water filtration system billed as whole house...was not quite up to it's billing. If you have limited space this is it. What a remarkable difference in the water, the water pressure the taste and smell of the water. I live in Palms Springs, California and the water here is the worst. Very high in calcium deposits on everything...and I mean everything. From cars to clothes to house plants, it's a constant battle to get rid of water staining here. Solution, put in a whole house water filtration system that will eliminate the problem. In addition to the water. Additionally in line I added a smaller prefilter, that makes a big difference on performance. Was an easy install and it's a quality product. Life any purchase like this, shop for what fits your needs as it relates to water treatment for in house use. Because of the limited space I chose this unit and the flip side is, if you every want to expand this system, just buy another unit and add it in-line with the existing unit. Label the outside of each unit with the "type" of filter cartridge so you know what filter is where, and you are off to the races. The most important thing here is knowing what your "major" water problem are, mine was calcium and water stains along with odd odors at times. This has eliminated that problem. The water flows better, cleaner and safer. I would never drink just the tap water here in Palm Springs unless it was filtered.....thanks to folks at GE they have solved my problem. As noted in the photos I have a tankless water heater, no more tank type....this whole system does a remarkable job and could not be more pleased. Best.

Well built filter which is easy to install. Lots of replacement filter available too. One nice to have thing would have been to include two 3/4" to 1" adapters.

I almost initiated a return on this item. Not because it is faulty (haven't installed it yet), but because the top and the canister were screwed down together so tight that I had to use my shop vise to separate them. Don't understand why! I ordered this filtration system to replace the identical model (GXWH40L) that I installed in 2015, because the old one now leaks. I tried replacing the o-ring, and cleaned the surfaces where the o-ring mates to the top assembly in an effort to eliminate the leak, but even after applying way more torque than should be required (using the wrench that came with the item), the old one still leaks. My residential water pressure averages 50psi, and I have a Thermal Expansion Tank installed and pressurized to 50-psi. 4-Stars.

so far so good, no leaks, seems very well made, the clear body is a plus and the bypass works which was vital when changing filters so I could have water to clean housing.

I purchased this water filter to prevent water softener resin beads from entering my house piping in the event of a softener failure. This happened at a rental house when the filter basket inside the softener collapsed, and it was a nightmare. It will cost you thousands of dollars to have a plumber clear the lines. I did it myself, but it was two whole days of frustration. I vowed that this would never happen in my own home, so I installed this on the outlet side of my softener to trap the resin beads should the softener fail. This thing is a beast - it is very heavy (even empty, with no filter), and I recommend installing it on a wooden backplate. Also, I recommend using a lot of teflon tape on the threaded components you will need to purchase to attach your piping to the filter. I used a few wraps, but it wasn't enough to prevent leaking. I had to disconnect it and use another 5 wraps to get a leakproof connection (do NOT overtighten the connections). This unit seems to be very rugged. It is also reversible (you can have the inlet on the right or the left), which was a nice feature for my installation. The 90-day battery-powered reminder is a bit gimmicky, but I stuck it on the door of my garage refrigerator so it would be readily seen when the filter change time is indicated. FYI, I was able to get 7GPM flow through this filter when I first installed it and was flushing it per the instructions (with an AQUACREST aftermarket 5-micron filter installed).

Easy installation. Wish i have it installed earlier. Doesn't visually reduce system pressure. Will require expansion tank installation, if you don't have it yet, installed somewhere after this unit on cold water side, because it has internal check valve and will cause pipes banging without a tank.

just installed this last Friday,It is a very high Quality filter system.Very well made compared to others I looked at.It was a steal at 60 bucks.

Installed easy and working well. Everything included to mount it, mounting bracket is very solid. Would definitely buy again
