Running a phosban reactor with this pump. I have ...
Running a phosban reactor with this pump. I have a 29 gallon biocube and phosban reactor is 3.5 feet below it on the floor. This pump has enough power to put the water through the reactor and stir the media well which is what you need to run a reactor. I am able to choke the pump flow down with a ball valve and still stir the media while have another 25% of flow left should I need it. This is a small pump that fits perfectly with my biocube circulation pump in the pump chamber. Just raise the amount of water leve to the max line and both pumps work without any issues. Does what I needed with a cheap price tag. It's a win/win!!! Oh and it also has both a 1/2 and 3/4 barb fitting included. Score!!!!

powerful and works great
You can change the strength of this pump, it works great for my large reactor, had it for a long time now.

The Good: It has a reasonably long power cord
The Good: It has a reasonably long power cord. It's lightweight. It pumps even partially dry and has no issues getting a flow started even uphill through 10 feet of hose. It came with two different size attachment barbs so finding hose was easy. The Bad: It's not as powerful as you'd think it was with a 400GPH rating. While it does seem to have a good head height it doesn't have a ton of power beyond 4 feet high, so upsize if you're expecting to actually go anywhere near the head height. The Indifferent: It's a little noisy due to vibration, and the suction cups on the bottom can alternatively either not hold at all or hold with the power of a thousand suns. The power cord probably should have been twice as long as it is but that's just nitpicking.I use this as an aquarium water transfer tool, and it works great in that capacity, draining buckets down to a water level of half the unit's height (~1.5") with no issues, but I would recommend the next size up due to slow flow if pumping upwards--it can take several minutes to empty 10 gallons into a tank with a pump height of 5 feet.

Works for inflatable hot tubs
Used the 550 GPH as a replacement pump in my inflatable spa. The pumps are known to have impeller failures and mine finally stopped working completely after 13 months of ownership. Manufacturer will not sell just the broken pump. They will only sell a whole new pump/heater/air pump as a fully assembled housing for 10x the cost of this pump. Time will tell how long this replacement will last, but if it gets anywhere near a year I'd be quite pleased.

Meh. It works.
It worked pretty good when used as a submersible pump. Quiet, steady flow. But could not get the inline function to work. Ordered a replacement, which came very quickly, but the inline function didn't work on that one either.

Bang for the Buck ( or Suck-tion ha ha ) : Works Perfect for DIY Bucket Filter
I dropped 1 star for Noise Level , It is fairly quiet but noticeable.. more of just a hum which is acceptable to me.. but not totally whisper quiet.I have it in a 75gal tank using it to pump water up about 3ft and into a 5 gallon diy canister filter. I have it turned all the way up and connected to 5/8" hose and it cleared my murky tank up in about 2 days.. ( my previous $300 name brand canister filter pump failed and I procrastinated for several months.. so water looked like dank pond water.. couldnt see in the tank.. making it spooky to feed this 15pound dinosaur.. ( snapper ) I will be happy if it lasts over 3 months.. because my expensive filter didnt last that long.. so I likely will go DIY from now on.. rather than waste hundreds on fancy filters with expensive replacement components and filter elements.. I could buy one of these for every month of the year and still not spend as much as the average canister filter setup..

Great Pump, Very Reliable
This pump runs quiet and efficiently takes care of the task I bought it for! (Return pump for a small sump filter). If I was planning to use this to pump pre-prepped water into my aquariums, I'd be rather limited with the cord length, but I have an old sunterra pump for that job with about a 20 foot long cord, so I'm ok on that. Just something to keep in mind when you order, the cord is about 6' or so. (Honestly, that sunterra pump is the only one I have seen/bought with a nice long cord on it..)

Save water
Works to pump water to plants from bath tubs to lake and pool. Bad news is the sun killed my plants.
