A-lot-of-sugar with a hint of rice-flour.
Not exactly what I suspected, but was still delightful.Basically, bean jam inside a marshmellow inside a powder coated soft gelatin. Not really sweet until you get to the marshmellow layer, but then it becomes very sweet. The melon flavor and scent seemed really subtle to me. Mostly just tastes like a-lot-of-sugar with a hint of rice-flour.It's really-really soft, which wasn't as I expected, but is actually pleasant in a unique way. They aren't the healthiest snack you could pick and they are rather small for how much sugar is densely packed into the center, but it makes for a yummy treat to go alone or along with some hot tea.I wouldn't recommend eating more than two of these at a time, unless you plan on chugging a ton of water to help pass them through your system. I ate three and my stomach feels like I just ate a large sandwich. :s

Usually good but today not the brand I ordered
I usually buy these & it's always a 5 star product... I have it in my essentials... however today they sent me an alternative... & it's nothing like the one I always get... flavor is close so that's good I guess but the mochi texture is very dense... doesn't have that marshmallowy elasticity.... this one stretched but then kept shape like playdoh... so I guess it's luck of the draw on ordering these...disappointed but I'll probably try ordering again... although if this repeats then I'll rate this at a 1 star instead... since it's deceiving

My first Mochi
After seeing a video about Mochi and its significance in Japan and Japanese culture I went to Amazon and took a chance. I was VERY surprised, in a very good way. In the video Mochi comes off like a much softer version of Marshmallow despite coming from rice. Knowing how marshmallow dries out I figured the Mochi would be dry and tasteless by the time it got to me in the midwest. I was COMPLETELY wrong. It was INCREDIBLY soft and very tasty. I am big fan of melon, but it is not a taste you find often in America. The taste was great, it was sweet without being a solid block of sugar and the only downside is that once I open a package, ... I finish the package. As for the value for money? I don't know because I have not comparison shopped. But it was low enough for me to try and I certainly fell like I got my money's worth.

Just as pictured
TastySo I really like trying foods from other countries. As a huge anime fan I lean more towards wanting to try Japanese foods in particular. A fanfiction ideas mentioned daifuku so I decided to try this. The taste is almost exactly like I thought. Not super sweet (even though it is very high in carbs) but maybe on par with a gummy bear. The melon taste is also not overwhelming. I can definitely tell it's melon though. It has a picture of a musk melon/cantaloupe but the flavor is more honeydew with a hint of the cantaloupe sweetness.I have no idea how to describe the texture. If you are sensitive to mouth feel textures this might not be for you. It's weird. Smooshy but not, sorta gummy like but not. A smooshy soft gummy? A marshmallow gummy? Idk, but it's weird and odd and I like it. There is a slight texture difference when you reach the bean paste filling but not a lot. I almost couldn't tell a difference between the two. There is a slight powder coating, I guess to prevent sticking. It is very thin an not super noticable. Less than what you would find on a Turkish Delight.Overall I would definitely recommend trying it.

Melon is such a lovely taste in a fruit mochi, and these are excellent.
