I’ve tried many freeze-dried meals while backpacking and camping, but the Mountain House Beef Lasagna stands out as one of the best. It’s honestly surprising how delicious it is considering how incredibly easy it is to prepare. All you need to do is pour hot water into the pouch, wait, and enjoy. Yet the result tastes far closer to a homemade meal than typical trail food. The first thing that impressed me was the texture of the pasta. Instead of being mushy like many freeze-dried meals, the noodles rehydrate beautifully and retain a pleasant bite. The sauce is rich and flavorful, with a great balance of tomato acidity, beef savoriness, and a noticeable cheesy undertone. The overall taste is comforting and satisfying — exactly what you want after a long day on the trail. Another major plus is the convenience. The pouch serves as the bowl, which means no dishes to wash and minimal cleanup. When you’re tired at camp or trying to conserve water, this convenience makes all the difference. Although the package says “2 servings,” it works perfectly as a hearty single meal or a generous dish to share. The portion size is substantial and leaves you feeling full and energized. This is a freeze-dried meal I would happily keep not only for camping trips but also as an emergency food supply at home. The combination of taste, simplicity, and reliability makes it an easy five-star product. Bought this to test for outdoor adventures. Taste is excellent, I read some reviews on water amounts and used about a quarter cup less and it came out perfect. Light weight package. Easy to make by following instructions. I will buy again to stock up my pack. Price is about the same as I find in retail stores. I did find it a little bland, but I love a lot of pepper on my foods to add some spicy.

Quite delicious for a meal of this type. I tested at the office and not in the field and I was pleasantly surprised. I would choose this over a frozen meal any day, except that it costs 3x more and I don't need the shelf life. I just tried because so many YouTube people push it. Only exception: The chicken fried rice has a smoky weird flavor and texture. Big skip it for me.

So far I've only tried this one flavor but I'm amazed how good it is. I didn't expect it to be good, I just expected edible. Rehydrated perfectly. If someone brought me a bowl of this and I didn't know it was freeze dried. I would think it was frozen microwave lasagna. Not soupy, thick creamy sauce, flavor of Stouffer's frozen lasagna basically. I used 11.5oz of the recommended 12 oz of water and let it sit 10 min, stirred, then 10 more min which is more than the package says. fyi. It was perfect, ate the whole pouch.

I've sampled about four different Mountain House meals so far. This is the best one so far. It's very good. I enjoy it about as much as I'd enjoy a canned or frozen lasagna, so I think I'd have to go to an Italian restaurant to do better than this. Honestly I have to avoid the temptation to eat these every day. Preparation is simple. You just pour boiling water and eat it out of the bag. The nice thing about Mountain House is they have a shelf life that spans multiple decades. So if I buy a bunch of these, I can feel secure that I'll live a little longer and in comfort when the zombie apocalypse comes.

Excelente lasagna, pero difícilmente 2 porciones. Para una comida de $500 plus pesos me parece muy cara.
