I’ve made these as pretzels, very good hot out of the oven. Last time I made, I rolled the dough thin and cut to what I estimated would make a slice of bread. Worked great. Made sliced turkey and Swiss sandwiches, with stone ground mustard and dill wedges…w pretzel (bread) hot out of the oven. Hard to beat…

I love love soft pretzels the pretzels came with food grade lye and my anxiety and hypochondriac self got scared and looked it up and found out that even food grade lye can be dangerous if not careful so I decided to not use it I was going to use the baking soda as substitute but decided to do an egg wash instead and I cut little slits into the dough and brushed the egg wash all over and popped them in the oven THEY CAME OUT PERFECT!! So soft and golden brown I made some cheese dip and they are heaven I made pretzel rolls and a few pretzels both came off soft and yummy 😋

I made rolls instead of pretzels. What I liked was that even without an electric mixer, the dough rose both times. I used the metal hand mixer with the hole in the middle. After awhile, the dough was too thick to stir with the manual mixer. So, I kneaded instead. Everything you need comes in the box. The pretzel rolls tasted very good. Crunchy on the outside. And soft in the middle. The taste was more like fresh bread rolls.

I am from Germany and have purchased Kathi bakery items in the past. The three Prezel mixes I have just received arrived in a plastic bag and all outer boxes are damaged. I have looked inside and out and can not find an expiration date. I am uncomfortable using this product as I don’t know how old it is.

I was really impressed with these. They weren't too hard to make and the flavor was way closer to a real pretzel you can get in Germany than any of the other brands I've tried. I know some of the reviews mention the lye - it comes with the lye and salt, you only need to add vegetable oil and water from your pantry. I'll definitely be purchasing these again!
