I needed one of these covers to hide the flue from an old furnace that had died. We had it removed and relocated to a different part of the house as this old furnace room will soon be a bedroom in a newly-built apartment. I needed something that was decorative (to a point), as the brick wall will be exposed as a 'decorative element' for the room. This works great. The 'adjustable' factor are these bendy steel flaps that are spot-welded to the plate, and you just pry them away from the plate itself, and slide it into the flue opening, and it holds like a charm. You DO need the metal collar that is in the chimney (the one the stove pipe or flue was attached to), and if you don't have one, go to Home Depot or Lowes and get the one that fits the hole.I used a gap-sealing foam with mine (I used a DAP product I got in the paint department--it had a small delivery tube which I thought would be beneficial, and it's white), sealing the flue collar to the brick chimney, and running a thick bead around the opening before I slid in the plate. I also filled in any gaps around the outside edges, wiped it all down with a rag to clean it up, and it looks great. It's sealed, so I don't have to worry about the inevitable spiders that are sure to make that area their home, or any drafts or left-over oil-burning-furnace smells.Oh, and when I took it out of the box, mine was black...which is fine. Apparently there are other colors available through different vendors, but you can have any color you want with a can of primer and a can of spray paint of your choice. I would, of course, paint it BEFORE you install it.PRO: Price, ease of use, 'adjustability' factor, a little old-fashioned, but decent design;CON: Wish there were a couple other designs to choose from, something a little more contemporary, a traditional (which I would call this) and maybe even something a little more Victorian or the like for people that like that sort of thing.

A breeze to install - great secure fit
I ended up buying a second one of these for the downstairs flue opening because I liked the first one I purchased so much. I even wallpapered it so it completely disappears into the wall. I will be wallpapering the second one within a week. Great product. Ended up ordering from Amazon because I couldn't find it in any local store.

Flue cover
After buying a 100 year old house and peeling layers of wallpaper off the kitchen, I discovered a giant hole in the wall. Turned out, that hole was where an old stove pipe used to be hooked up to the chimney. Since I didn't want to have a giant hole in my wall, I went in search of a cover. Luckily I found this pretty quickly. Since part of my kitchen walls are already black, this goes really well. The product picture doesn't give you a good idea of what it looks like so I will try to upload a picture of my own. It basically looks like a plate type thing hanging on the wall. I don't even notice it anymore. I only gave it 4 stars because I wish it would seal the hole a little better. As it is, the cover won't come off the wall on it's own but it took a few tries to get it to stay, and I feel it's not tight enough to keep anything (spiders) from crawling out of the chimney and into my kitchen. I'm sure there is something I could buy to seal it completely, I'll just have to look into it.

Great product, great price, best shipping!!!
Perfect, fits and looks great, I ordered this as the final piece to a kitchen remodel and used it on 103 year old exposed chimney and is perfect. Thank you for keeping the shipping promise as I needed this for Thanksgiving day dinner, was promised certain date and time and came exactly then.

As described
Nice inexpensive way to cover stove pipe hole after removing woodstove. Looks fine but still let’s a good amount of cold air into the house so other measures need to be taken versus just sticking this over the hole.

Not the Right Size
Measurements in the product info say it's 12" across. It's not even 10" across, and therefore useless to me to cover an 11" hole. Will be returning & ordering from somewhere else.

Perfect The only advice I would give someone else who ...
Metal flue stop-exactly as described-popped into place without any other tools. Delivered quickly. PerfectThe only advice I would give someone else who orders this- if you're replacing an old flue stop, please be aware there may be an 100 year old ash buildup inside the chimney/stove pipe etc. & cover the floor.(Yes, that's kind of obvious. Yes, I should have known better. No, I didn't) :)But once I got the old one out & cleaned up, the new one popped in like a dream. the edges also didn't fit perfectly at first but moving it around seemed to snap into place.Thank you.

Not easy to use
It does not stay put with the things that should hold it in the chimney. I had to tape it on.
