Desert Rose Seeds Mixed Colors Adenium Obesum 100 Pack Single and Multi Colored Flowers

There are a lot of shady sellers out there so buyer beware.These are real desert desert seeds and germinated almost 90%. First I just used a produce container (see pics)that had mini cucumbers which was perfect. Had a plastic cover and some holes for airflow. YOU DO NEED A HEATING MAT. I germinated these in august. I used cactus soil and added morePearlite and peat moss to the mix. I sprayed the soil with water before I added them to the container. The seeds are long and thin seeds. I inserted vertically in the soil with about a tiny bit of the seed peeking out of the soil. I had it in a west facing window with a lot of morning rays. I only watered when bone dry then thoroughly drench with water but do not allow to sit in excess water you’ll get root rot. NOTE: desert roses are succulents. They grow in the desert hence the name. It’s better to forget about them then to love them too much and over water. We know who we are that does that. I used to do it until I realized I needed to treat them like succulents and cactuses.Desert rose love full sun however summer noon sun will burn the baby leaves so provide some shade. I eventually took them out to the late summer sun.Once they got bigger I moved them to bigger but small enough to grow pots do not over pot! Desert rose are slow growers. They will not bloom until mature which is about 5 or more years. So be patient. I had left these outside on the deck and found out that caterpillars and mealy bugs get on them and eat the beautiful green leaves so watch the babies closely.The ones in the greenhouses are grafted and once blooming will cost you between $60-100/plant.Do not allow the plant in winter to go below 60 degrees. If you see that your plant has wrinkles in the trunk it’s too dry. If the stalk is too soft it could be under watered. Need to be in a pot with drainage holes.Good luck.

I ordered product on October 15, received the seeds on the 18th, put them in warm water to soak for 24 hours on the 19th, and planted them the evening of the 20th. I used a planting medium of 65% perlite, 15% cactus potting soil 10%. Peat Moss,, and 10% Pine bark nuggets.I received 126 seeds. After l 6 hours in water half the seeds continued to float, after 24 hours there was only one seed left floating. I planted all seeds, including the seed that did not sink to the bottom. I don’t have any type of warming tray so I created a greenhouse effect by covering seedlings with the attached tops of the takeout trays I used as as planters, placed them in a box, and covered the cardboard box with several quilts to ensure the seeds remained warm.I used only 2 inches of growing medium 65% per light, 15% cactus soil, 10% Pete Moss, 10% Pinebark in shallow depth containers to insure good drainage for my potential seedlings.One of my plants produced a seed pod this year and like these seeds, I had great success in sprouting, But not a single one ever achieved more than the two initial faux leaves. I attributed the failure to poor drainage.The 3rd photo is at the 14 day stage. After the 1st and 2nd photos at 7 days, they were moved from warm, dark box, and covered containers to the covered patio where they receive indirect sunlight. Some seed husks required removal assistance and cotyledon leaves came off with husks. At this point there are 92 future seedlings for a 73% success rate (126/92=73). It was difficult to choose between four and five stars because I was generously given 126 seeds which Increased the number of seedlings, however, if I’d received 73% of 100 seeds, resulting in only 73 seedlings it would be less impressive than my 92. Notice 2 seedlings are albino and will not survive, but I don’t have the heart to remove them.In future seed germination, I would use only 50% perlite. It’s very difficult to determine the water needs with 65 percent. The mixture always seemed dry at the top and just chilly, but not really moist at the bottom. Plants watered from bottom.At 6 weeks seedlings were transferred to 4 inch pots into a new soil mixture of equal parts, miracle, grow potting soil, cactus, palm, and citrus soil, and perlite. Of the 92 seedlings that survived the initial 4 weeks, 5 failed to thrive, 2 of the 5 were albino, 1 insignificant root development, and 2 failed to develop more than 2 real leaves, weakened and died leaving 87 plants remaining to date. However 2 of the 87 remain significantly smaller (less than 1” tall) and just 1 and 2 leaves respectively and without the bowling pin shape of their seedling siblings. Their survival until spring is uncertain.Due to several cold snaps here in Central Florida requiring moving plants indoors overnight, I’ve relocated them indoors using 7500 lumen LED shop lights with 4000k ultra bright natural white light for 12 to 14 hours each day.69 percent of the 126 seeds survive at this point.There does appear to be discernible differences in leaf shape, color, and growing patterns lending credence to the sellers assorted seed credence.I would purchase again from the seller. I suspect the seller included some older seeds in his packaging as opposed to discarding them, providing buyers with more seeds than advertised and possibly more variety.

I was not expecting the outcome that I ended up with when I started planting these seeds. I figured I would be lucky if half of them started to grow. Every seed I planted so far has sprouted and is growing . They are thriving and seem to be healthy. You get 100 seeds in different colors. I’m excited to see what colors I end up with. I followed the directions to a tee and now I have a lot of desert roses. I’ll be giving many way. When I ordered them I thought they were a little expensive. However I got my money’s worth from these seeds. Just follow the directions and you should have desert roses in no time. We live in Florida and get lots of sunshine year around. They love the sun and humidity. Your results may vary depending on where you live. Would I purchase these again. You bet ya.

Received more than 100 seeds. Planted in seeds starter trays with covers that control humidity. Only 47 seeds germinated. I planted most of the seeds by following the instructions that came with the package. I soaked about 20 seeds overnight before planting them and the germination rate is higher with the soaked seeds. In my opinion less than 50% germination rate is too low, thus the 2 stars rating for "Value for money".
