Please ignore the bad reviews. These people obviously didn’t understand that you can’t just take a carbon steel wok and cook with it/clean it like a normal pan. If you want to use this, you need to learn how to properly season and care for it. It’s not difficult but it does need to be done correctly or you’ll end up with a rusted wok like the ones seen in the bad reviews. If you don’t want to fool with it, get a stainless wok. But if you want your food to taste amazing and your wok to be truly non-stick and awesome, get this one and season it correctly.That being said, I love mine. I use it for all kinda of thing - not just Asian food. I’ve cooked everything from fried rice to eggs and bacon in my wok. Cooks so fast and it always has a flavor that I just don’t get with stainless pans. I’ve even experimented with smoking chicken wings with some pretty good success! Very solid construction and super versatile. I can’t believe it took me so long to get a wok. I hardly even use other pans now.

You have to season it or it will rust.
This is a carbon steel wok. It will start to rust a few minutes after you wash it. This is normal. Do not wash it till you are ready to season it. I just finished seasoning mine and it turned out beautiful.

Directions and Handle
The wok is durable, easy to season, and heats up well. My concerns with the product are three-fold:1. The handle is a fairly rough cut of wood. I was expecting a more finished handle. It also comes with a cheap hook for hanging the wok. The hook would not last five minutes given the weight of the wok.2. The wok arrived in a book wrapped in plastic. There were no seasoning or preparation directions in the book. I can see why some buyers are unhappy. If you were not aware that carbon steel requires significant preparation before using, then you would be disappointed in this product.3. The wok itself is very heavy. I would recommend a lighter wok for most home cooks.If weight is not a concern and you do not mind watching U-Tube videos to learn how to season the wok, this is a decent item to buy for the money.

Carbon Steele Wok
Excellent wok, carbon steel as stated, that's what you want! You need to do your research (YouTube) and learn how to season a wok if you have’t already been taught. Do not simply wash this wok out and start cooking with it as some other reviewers have apparently done!! This is a traditional style wok so if you're interested in cooking traditional style chinese food this is what you want. The nature of this wok (the heat transfer) allows you to cook your food as if you’re cooking directly over a flame so as to get that desired charred flavor! Season your wok with a low smoke point oil such as flaxseed oil or with a high smoke point oil such as peanut oil. You’ll thank me later! A great wok for someone who enjoys the art of cooking and is searching for that unique flavor that you cannot get with new age non-stick cookware.

Rust galore
Washed the wok for the first time and noticed rust in our sink. I thought maybe it's just a first wash issue and that over time it would be okay. Nope! Washed it a second time and rust on both sides covered 50% of the wok. I hand dried the wok immediately after washing and black chemical/coating covered the dish towel. Horrible product.

Perfect for traditional wok cooking!
I used to have a carbon steel wok that I used a lot, but lost it in a move years ago. Conventional stainless steel "wok design" cookware doesn't work like a traditional wok. I finally replaced my old favorite wok with this one, and I really like it. The slightly flat bottom allows me to use it without needing the fire ring. Maintaining a carbon steel product is not as easy as stainless steel, but much easier than cast iron. Just take a few extra minutes to keep it seasoned and it will give you years of use!

A good wok if you know how to take care of it
So far, it's been great! I used a youtube video to learn to season it properly, which was quite a process. DO NOT season inside the house because it comes with this weird chemical on the surface (I guess to prevent rusting). I seasoned first in my oven, which was a huge mistake cuz the chemical smell was quite potent. Do it out on a clean grill. The chemical smell burns off and if you season it properly, you'll have a perfect nonstick pan.This is definitely not a pan for any induction/conduction cooktop. Use gas, and preferably, use a higher butane gas stove outside.Most important part is youtube how to properly season, and do not season inside your house.

Nice big wok
Just received this wok a few days ago. We immediately cleaned and seasoned it per the instructions listed on the product page. It will definitely need a lot of time to season properly but so far so good. My only complaint right now is that the bottom isn't quite flat. I also feel like the "flat" area should be a little bigger but we're still excited to use this.
