If you like something with a lot of zip, you'll like this one
Probably the spiciest thing we've tried from mountain house - but we're fans of spicy food. What we especially like about this was how you can stretch it into more than two meals because of the strength of the flavors. Putting a pile of grated cheese on top would help for those who aren't into like a little less heat.Like almost all of the Mountain House meals, for two senior adults who aren't burning mega-calories in a daytime outdoor adventure, there's more than enough to eat. Enough to make a next-day breakfast by adding the leftovers to some scrambled eggs or making a soup with some beef broth and whatever leftover veggies you have from the fridge.

Find & remove moisture absorber pack first
Great food. Smells, tastes, and looks fantastic in backpacking food standards. It's not very spicy, similar to a chipotle experience, but a bit stronger. It's not like you will scream for water or anything. But there should be an explicit written reminder to remove the moisture absorber before adding water.Small children could've eaten the absorber. What the hell.

I will say as a 5'10 245 lb guy idk about it being 2 servings lol but 1 pack was definitely feeling. Ill def buy more of these for camping and thr apocalypse

Another Mountain House winner!! Spicy!
I bought this to explore more Mountain House meals at home BEFORE I take to the woods. This was one of the MOST filling meals yet. Too many shredded potatoes for my taste buds it had me craving salt. The spice was pretty high which was nice. This is a meal that could be eaten at any time. Very thick! I think if I tried it again I'd use more water and give it extra time to soften the mass of potatoes. A little cheese or sour cream would go a long way! Mountain House continues to top the list as the BEST camping food I've tried. It's consistently Great! I just wish they'd bring back Apple Crisp!

The best flavor!
I love this stuff! I crave the Spicy Southwest Style Skillet all the time! I didn't need to add anything else (like hot sauce) to the pouch. It is great as is. I have to admit, the first bite was a pleasant, "Whoa, this is spicy!" It is by far the spiciest Mountain House product. This is great as is, on warmed tortillas, or if you need to have more food.....scramble some eggs and add this (already rehydrated with hot water) and some cheese! Can't go wrong!!!!Extra hint: It says to rehydrate for 5 min and let stand for 4 min. I add the water and put the pouch in a homemade reflectix koozie for 10 min. Then I let it sit open to cool for 4 min. The extra time while rehydrating makes sure that everything gets hydrated really well. Hope you enjoy!

Pretty good!
Always looking for quick easy meals on our boat. Heard about these, so we decided to try a few out.Overall it was very good. Can't get any easier to prepare.Alone, it might be a stretch to feed to adults. We did pair it with a salad before we had the meal. We actually had to struggle to finish it. Without the salad, it may not have been enough to be filling.Taste and texture was good. No complaints. Although lacking the feel of a real meal, the flavor and quality was quite good.Heard others complain about it being too spicy and too salty. We found neither to be true. Tasted just fine, with a bit of a kick but hardly noticeable, to us, anyway.Probably won't be having this meal EVERY time we go out sailing, but it is nice to have on board when I don't feel like preparing an entire meal in the galley.Considering it was a good size for 2 adults, the price seems reasonable.

Great for camping/prepping/hiking
Mountain House is a pretty good product. Been using them for years. There are a lot of freeze dried products out there that taste better, but are quite a bit more expensive. All of their products taste OK and are definitely great when you're hungry from humping a pack all day for miles. They are not the best at reconstitution, but still work. They are easy to throw in a backpack and take with you on your trip. Would I want to eat them for dinner every night while at home? No. But the convenience of just needing to add water and eat is awesome. They have an amazing shelf life and I have yet to get a bad product. I will say this, make sure the water is hot for best absorption..
