Came smelling strongly of a bleach like substance, which is way better than the "dead thing" smell some people say other suppliers sponges smell like! It was way bigger than a grapefruit and I removed a dozen or so small pieces of grass like material and I did find the remains of a segmented critter waaaay down in one of the holes. Doesn't really bother me, I understand that this is a product that grows in the ocean and I'm actually surprised they can get it at clean as they do. This sponge has zero exfoliation value. It's like wetting down the softest longest velvet you've ever seen. It holds a ton of water and takes forever to rinse out. I bought it for the shower but I think it would work out much better for baths where you want to sit there and soak yourself. Or maybe for bathing babies. Super gentle. I've been using mine for a few weeks now, every day to every other day, and I'm going to project that it will fall apart by about 4 months in. It is fairly delicate. People who said theirs lasted years either arn't using them as often as I am mine, or their sponge just grew a sturdier structure than mine did. All that said, I am very happy with this and think it's worth the price. I would recommend you get a loofa for your exfoliation needs!

This has been the best sponge I have ever owned. First of all, it didn’t come all dehydrated and flat like some others. It’s good size, soft and the pores are smaller so it doesn’t break down easily. I like that holds a lot of water when when bathing with it and there are no rough areas. I would buy this again.

I purchased this sponge on Aug 28th to replace one I had that was coming to the end of its life. I was hopeful that given its price point on the more expensive side for these that it would hold up like my first one did. When I first received the sponge I was surprised at its size as it was on the larger size but liked the softness of it and over all appearance. It was on its second day of use I started to notice that it was developing a split down its center but figured this was just the sponge breaking in as they sometimes do. By day five it was clear that the split was not going to stop as it just kept opening further and further. By day ten it was now almost complete flat in its shape and was about 10 to 11 inches in width. This made it very hard to use and it always felt like it was just falling apart with every use. Now this all being said I understand this is not a manufacturing issue as these are natural sponges, and I am sure the one I received was just a unlucky draw. But for its lack of longevity of use I am giving it a 1 star. This rating is not to reflect anything regarding the seller as they were great and very timely with their shipping.

I have really enjoyed using this sponge so far. It works just as well as any lufa that I've used before. I, personally, think that it's worth a bit extra for small things like this to try to help the environment, but it's up to you to decide if it's worth it for you. My main complaint with this product is that you need to MAKE SURE that you get all of the water out of it after using it and store it somewhere dry because it gets moldy or turns green pretty quick. I know that it comes with instructions for care, and I've been following that. However, the first day after cleaning it, I forgot to get all of the water out, and I woke up the next morning to find that half of it was green with algae or something. Since then, I've been cleaning it every other week and wringing out the excess water and haven't had any problems since.

I rarely write reviews on Amazon, but felt compelled to do so after purchasing these sponges. I ordered four of the large size and was pleasantly surprised by their size and softness. The price is fantastic and they shipped very quickly. I plan on ordering some more. Fabulous! Very similar to sponges I have purchased in boutiques for twice the price.

I thought that this sponge was going to be small but is large enough to cut into 2 sponges. My last soft sponge lasted about 5 or 6 years. Great value.
