Quadruple Weight Tournament Chess Game Pieces - Chess Board Game Staunton Ivory Chess Pieces

I generally don't like to write reviews, but I felt satisfied with the product, and I thought I could write few words for the next chess player who is undecided if to buy these pieces or not.I wanted a set I could bring to a tournament without the fear of getting it damaged. I would have preferred wood, but they are much more expensive like 70-90$.The price of this set was quite low, 24$, the height of the king, 4" is what I truly like, because IMHO 3.5" are small. The color of the pieces is perfect, I had some doubts on the ebonized Black pieces, being too dark, but I like them, and the White pieces not being White but a kind of tanned cream are perfect for pictures. The weight is really good, also if strangely some pawns seem heavier than some pieces. But if one likes heavy pieces, these are it!!The pieces arrived on time, so why 4 stars instead of 5? Because the White king has a small but noticeable black spot, like the color went away there, or was damaged. Not a big deal, since surely these pieces will suffer from wear and tear. I already played few games, I'm satisfied with this purchase.

These pieces feel nice. I bought them for an outdoor chess table, and need the weight so they'll stay where they are outside, or at least not travel far if a storm blows them off the table, and won't get jostled if the table is bumped. The quality and look are pretty good, though the design is just a little less elegant than I would like. But just slightly, and how much elegance can you expect at this price? Especially when it comes with two queens per color. The plastic seems high quality, and somewhat weighty in itself aside from just the bottom weight. As other reviewers have mentioned, the crown of the queen is capable of piercing the skin it is so sharp, so be careful and don't let kids or the dog chew on them. And the pieces are nice and big, too big for some standard chessboards, but perfect for the squares on my table.

I play chess daily online, weekly with a club and occasionally at tournaments. This is my default set and a great value for the money.The plastic is hard and will not chip if dropped on the floor. The weight is substantial and complimented by other players. The white pieces seem to season a little darker after heavy use, but are still nice.I scored this a 4/5 because when the set first shipped, no black pieces were included. I got them to ship a second set, so now I have a full set (plus the original set of white pieces only).If I ever needed another set, I would buy this exact one again, but I don't think i will because this one is so sturdy.

Both figuratively and literally...The pieces are very large, well weighted and go great with the mousepad style board I ordered. Wholesale Chess 20" Tournament Mousepad Style Roll-Up Chess Board - BlackThe only criticism I have for this (still great value) set is that the queen's crowns are very sharp. They haven't broken the skin of anything but after a couple of flinches I've learned to reach slowly into my bag when pulling out the pieces.

Very nice, solid pieces. I have small, boisterous children and rickety tables that made playing chess impossible as the pieces kept getting knocked over or moved. Now there's rarely a problem!

Exactly what I wanted.Use them on a 20" silicone blue and ivory board and they look and feel good for the price. The 4 queens came with their sharp crowns wrapped, and I knew they would be pointy based on the reviews so that's ok.

Excellent in all respects! Love the extra weight which keeps them in place when my sleeve hits them!! Would buy again.

Very good pieces for playing blitz.
