A Must Have for Any Cobra or Classic Car Enthusiast
If you are a Car Guy/Gal and want to get your blood flowing and heart pounding, pick up this book. Colin Comer writes in a very captivating way and covers the Cobra story and history like no other author has. Right from the beginning, you get pulled into the Cobra story and feel like you were there watching it unfold. And if you were there watching it happen, I am certain this book provides some great insights and images that will take you right back there. Comer says right up front that this is not meant to be an encyclopedic reference on Cobra statistics, as that info is available elsewhere. Although, there is a lot of interesting facts, stats and data mentioned throughout the book. What he does do is give you the insiders look at Carroll Shelby and team and maybe more importantly, Comer provides the feeling of being there with them as you read. You can go through this book at least 3 different ways. Obviously cover to cover is the best way to enjoy this book. But if you are not a cover to cover reader, just thumbing through the pages looking at the incredible photos and the photo captions is another great way to get your juices flowing and get a great perspective. Lastly, Comer has special focus sections inserted throughout the book on key people (some you may have never heard of before, even if you are a Cobra enthusiast, that were extremely important to the Cobra and Shelby story) that influenced the Cobra story and Cobra history. Just reading those focus sections by itself is worth the price of the book. This book is enjoyable and important, and a book I will go back to frequently in the future. A must have for any Cobra or Classic Car enthusiast.

Best book for the money ive ever had
I just now received Cobra 50 Years after anxiously awaiting its arrival and the book was certainly no disappointment! When flipping through this book, you will find a mix of 60s period photos and new hi-res shots of ever configuration of Cobra manufactured by Shelby American. When it comes to the vintage shots, many have been seen before, but many also are completely new to me. They are not just vintage press photos but exciting shots of the cars in action back in the mid 60s! When it comes to the modern shots, they jump off the page at you and make your mouth water, there are no better pictures in any currently published Cobra book, i can promise you that, i have a full library of them.Further, this book refreshingly has an entire section on vintage cobra collectibles which is nice to see. It truly does cover every niche of the Cobra passion that so many of us share from original 289s and 427s to collectibles to continuation cars and everything else in between.I do not often go out of my way to recommend books, but this one deserves it. In fact, the book proves two things to me. 1) Mr. Comer puts together one mean book on Cobras, the thing is stunning, as stated above. 2) Mr. Comer must be a poor business man, because this book should not be sold for the $29 i paid for it..it is a $100 book all day long, no doubt about it.NO LIBRARY IS COMPLETE WITHOUT THIS ONE...if you consider yourself an enthusiast of Cobras, you need this book, you will not regret this purchase!

SHELBY COBRA FIFTY YEARS by COLIN COMERBeing a member of the Shelby American Automobile Club & being an old Hot-Rodder from the sixties that name Shelby AC Cobra always smacks of pride & respect for a high performance car that was second to none. Over the years I have built up a collection of fine books on Carroll Shelby along with his crew. Of course being a member of SAAC I have copies of the Cobra, Mustang & GT40 Registry which in our minds are the "Bibles" of anything associated with the name Shelby dealing with Cobras,Shelby Mustangs & GT-40's. There are many fine publications out there including Colin Comer's book " The Complete Book Of Shelby Automobiles " which is also a very good book but I had a slight problem with it do to the fact the captions beneath the photos were a little hard for me to read with their light color & small size, an older guy like me could read the captions but I found it a strain. When Amazon & a few of the guys recommended "Shelby Cobra Fifty years" I thought, well Colin's other book had a lot of great photos but those photo captions kind of turned this old guy off. But for that price maybe I'll get some nice photos. BUT, Colin if you happen to read this review, I have to compliment you & all the contributors that made this fine book possible! This is the first time I've opened a book on Cobras with the day coming to a complete stand-still ! I read the book right through from cover to cover, enjoyed it immensely! No sooner did I finish it when I was thumbing back through it going over interviews & admiring the photos which in most cases are just fantastic , then reviewing chapters ! Colin & his crew have came up with possibly the "BEST" book on Cobras ever ! This is a must have book for any Cobra fan or addict, it's fabulous ! It's a great book at a great price. It will be parked between my SAAC Registry Copies when it's not in use, need I say more ?THANK YOU COLIN,CREW AND CONTRIBUTORS !

Shelby Cobra Fifty Years
I've read Colin Comer's other books (Million Dollar Muscle Cars and The Complete Book of Shelby Automobiles) and now his newest book. These books are unlike anything else being published in the field of automotive writing/journalism. The Shelby books contain outstanding historical information combined with original photographs that I have never seen anywhere else. The amount of research that went into making these publications is extraordinary. The quality of the writing is superb as is the quality of the book itself. To say that these books, especially the Shelby books, are of the "coffee table" type is completely inaccurate. They are so much more meaningful than just a thick book with great photos. I would highly recommend the book(s) for racing enthusiasts, car collectors (and those of us that want to be!), Shelby and Ford fans, or just people that enjoy good writing and have an appreciation for something uniquely American.
