34120 Waste Ball Seal for Style II & Style Plus Toilets

This is a great RV DIY project if you have a few basic tools. You can find DIY videos to help with the install. The last time my toilet seal failed, the RV repair folks sold me an entirely new toilet for north of $200. This time, I just bought a new seal for $20 and spent 45 minutes to change out the seals. You need to take a bit of care to set the seal at the floor - make sure it is in the correct orientation and seated properly and test it for leaks when you flush. Put a little vaseline on the seal for the flush valve and it will last much longer.

I opted for the Thetford part. This is a great repair for a toilet that doesn't hold water in the bowl. I was able to remove the bowl from the base without removing the base from the floor. The base to floor flange seal is included but not needed if you can remove the two bolts that hold the bowl to the base. The bowl seal fit perfectly and the toilet works like new.

This was very easy to install in our Thetford toilet. If you are a DIYer and can remove your toilet, you can replace this seal easily. Be aware that not all Thetford toilets use two bolts and a “twist lock” to hold the upper and lower parts of the toilet together. I saw a YouTube video that showed the two bolt/twist lock version and was prepared to attack my toilet as such. Turned out that my two toilet pieces were held together with four bolts. Super easy to take apart and put back together. Also be aware that the bolts are held in the lower body with push-washers (I don’t know the technical name for these things), so the bolts will not fall out. Simply lift the top piece off the bolts and you’ll obtain easy access to the seal. Then carefully align and lower the top piece back onto the four bolts. The seal also has a flange that aligns it and holds it in place while you replace the top part, so there is no need to use plumber’s grease to hold the seal in place. The new seal returned the toilet bowl to its original water tight condition so that an odor seal can be created in the bowl by adding a small amount of water. This was an inexpensive solution to a “stinking” problem.

We had to replace the toilet seal in our RV this was the perfect fit. I believe that is was a better fit than the original seal. It was easy to install and has worked well for a month or so now. Hoping it lasts a long time, because changing the RV toilet seal is never fun!

Simple to install. Took 30 minutes to install on a Style II toilet. Worked perfectly. Instructions were very straight forward. Good price compared to local RV parts departments. And it shipped quickly. The local RV stores needed a couple of weeks to get the part shipped to them. We are in a very populated area north of Houston, Texas. I was able to get the part from Thetford via Amazon in three days. Will definitely order on Amazon again.

worked great for replacing the leaking waste ball and seals on the Thetford toilet in my camper. Parts fit perfectly and fixed the leaking issue immediately. Hope I don't need another kit anytime soon but if I do I'll order this one.
